Sara Barellis out 2/15... will she be on tonight?

Coming from out of town specifically to see Sara Barellis tonight (Friday 2/16)... I saw on her insta that she had to step out during act 2 yesterday because she has been sick this week. I know no one has a crystal ball but what are the chances of her being out tonight as well? Where does this news usually get posted? And finally if she is out, what are my options? (we are here till sunday so we could see the sunday show in hopes she would be better but would they allow me to switch? and when?)

If she’s out, you’ll likely see Stephanie Torns who is fantastic as Jenna. I know you’re here to see Sara, but if you do end up going and she’s out just know that you’re in for a great performance.

Yes, if there are tickets, they will likely allow you to switch - but I'm assuming you purchased the tix through telecharge/ticketmaster?   That MIGHT change the way you have to go about it (but I'm not sure).

 

However, they won't allow that to happen until it's official that she's out.   I'd just stop by the box office at youre earliest convenience and ask them.  They'll be able to give you the exact info necess.  They open at 10.

Sara was only out once during her first run due to illness and she announced it herself mid-afternoon after getting her doctor's orders. So I would check on Sara's Instagram and/or Twitter to get the fastest most reliable news.

But yes...Stephanie is fabulous and perfect in the role.

I was there last night after checking Sara's social media all day. She performed Act 1 and had I not known she was sick beforehand I wouldn't have noticed besides a few slightly airy/off notes. I was actually super impressed by her vocal control and it seemed like she was going to power through the show. At intermission it was announced that Stephanie was going on (2 Jenna's for the price of 1 ow oww!) and she was great. Her She Used to Be Mine was one of the best I've seen. Like someone else said, keep an eye on her social media... she really loves this show so I wouldn't be surprised if she tries again tonight but if not, Stephanie is amazing too!

Ugh, any tips on how to exchange these for Sunday? I bought via Ticketmaster in December as a Christmas gift for a HUGE Sara fan. So no disrespect to her understudy but we traveled (and paid a premium) to see Sara.

i called the box office and they said to call TM but I’ve been on hold for forever!

TicketMaster will exchange your tickets for Sunday... Everyone is getting the FLU in NYC...Sunday is your best bet that is if she's better by then! Bummer dude but still see in on Sunday and plenty of prime orchestra tickets showing available for both shows that day!

Are you implying they would have Desi take off from the tour to play on Broadway in Jenna's absence, even though Sara herself announced Stephanie Torns is performing tonight? What?

I was thinking maybe Sara could be out for s while and maybe they need an insurance policy.  Plus they have 4 shows  this weekend.  I just thought it was an odd coincidence.  I was looking foreword to seeing Desi.  I have a ticket for Sunday, maybe i’ll See her in NYC.

Was able to exchange the tickets! Thanks everyone... wish I had that other 800 number because it was a 45min hold... hopefully she will be better by then but if not then I guess I have to come back a different wknd!

I’ve seen many, many shows over the past 15 years, but can’t say I’ve experienced a performance by an understudy quite like the one I witnessed this evening by Stephanie Torns. She was out of this world. Run, don’t walk, if you have the opportunity to see her perform.

I am so moved every time I see her. She and Drew have phenomenal chemistry.
