I'm hoping the Democrats can do a little better than that and keep my vote. Sanders's condemnation of xenophobia is incredibly hypocritical: it's easy to find many examples of him invoking the threat of low-skilled foreign workers to rally his supporters.

Sanders is just too old. Face it, the job is a stressful one. Look how fast Obama went Grey! The Democrats have to bring out a younger "Golden Boy" who can bring a fresh face to the Dems.

If Sanders couldn't get past Hillary, do people really think he'll take out #45? Then there's his age. Give me Biden(despite his age)!

If Bernie runs again, take me out back and hit me with a shovel. I can't with his bull****.

He's by far the most popular politician in the country.

Of course Democrats won't nominate him.

Yeah, because he's not a Democrat. He's an opportunist who only bothers with the Democratic Party when it benefits him. If he's so popular, let's see him try and get elected President without the backing of the Party. I'd love to see him fall flat on his face again.

I agree with you. In the first picture, he looks like a guy in his late-40s, and in the second picture he looks like a guy in his mid-50s. I really don't see anything more than that. The most striking difference is he has a lot of gray hair in the second photo, but that happens to people who aren't president, too.

In the first pic Obama looks like he's in his mid-30s.  At the start of his presidency much mention was made of how young he looked.  Post-presidency, dude is a haggard fellow who looks 60. It's even more obvious he stands aside his wife.

" I'd love to see him fall flat on his face again."

LOL. Considering the run he gave Hillary Clinton I would hardly describe his 2016 campaign as "falling flat on his face".

Democrats are FANTASTIC at shooting themselves in the foot.

There's plenty of equally good potential candidates who aren't white guys. Harris, Gillibrand, Booker. It's just logic. Sanders couldn't beat Clinton and Clinton couldn't beat Trump. Propping up Sanders again is guaranteeing a second term for Trump.

I mean the process of securing the nomination is different from a general election. The voting ‘markets’ are different. Sanders consistently showed - even on Election Day - much higher statistical evidence of beating Trump (while as reality showed some polls would often show Hillary would have marginally more votes or even lose). And of course given the scandals and public perception she had there was a causal reason why this could be true. Of course, I understand that had Sanders gone to a general election perhaps he would have had his own scandals. But let’s not pretend Hillary was the only bet against Trump. One of Sanders’ key arguments in the primary debates was that based on statistical evidence Hillary might lose to Trump. He was right.

Bernie Sanders still would have been up against gerrymandering, voter suppression and Russian interference, and whomever the nominee in 2020 is will probably be facing the same. Sanders 2020

I think that Trump would have relentlessly slammed Bernie for his lengthy tenure in Congress.  What is a commendable record of public service would have morphed into living 30 years on the public dole in Trump-speak. Trump swept the floor with the other contenders for the GOP nomination.  The mere fact that Ted Cruz of all candidates placed second after Trump speaks volumes.  I don't care for Trump and most likely a huge chunk of his supporters but in 2016 he was not to be denied.  He rode an anti-establishment and anti-Obama/Bill Clinton wave all the way to the White House.

I don't see how a Dem nominee who tacks left of Obama could ever nab 270.  And I'm still convinced that the GOP will be the first party to get a woman elected potus.

What about Elizabeth Warren? If she runs I hope Bernie Oak will graciously step aside. They pretty much are aligned on every issue. I worry that Warren will be less popular than Sanders though.

Elizabeth Warren will never be POTUS. She's too grating. And Bernie is indeed too old, as is Biden. And I'm none too keen on Gillibrand and Booker either. If Warren, Sanders, Biden, Booker and Gillibrand are the best the Dems can do, they will lose again in 2020
