School play or community theatre? #1
Posted: 2/12/18 at 2:21pm

I am trying to decide between two plays that I could be in that are occurring at around the same time. The first one is a school play, Peter And The Starcatcher. It is directed by a senior at my school. We have three plays a year, a fall play, the big fall musical, and a student directed play. I was in the first two school plays this year. I already audition for my school's PATSC, but another opportunity has come up. A local theatre company is doing Pippin. I have been wanting to be in this show, but the auditions are in about ten days and I will be on holiday for four of them so I don't have much time to prepare. I usually only do school plays, but I do need to branch out soon. I am only a freshman in high school. Should I audition for Pippin? Which one should I choose?

You already auditioned....but did you get cast?   If the list has been posted, you should stick to PATSC.  (A great show, btw.)  You made a commitment, and you should honor it.

If not, Pippin is a great show, too...but more importantly, what is the quality of the community theater?  Additionally, do they often cast HS kids?

The cast list for PATSC is supposed to come out tomorrow. The community theatre is nice quality, slightly higher than the quality of this PATSC, since PATSC is being student directed. And yes, the production of Pippin is for 9th-12th graders.

Well if it suppose to be posted tomorrow, I'd stick with Peter. It would be pretty rude to ditch now.  And people remember and will be less likely to take a chance on you in the future.  Obviously, if you don't get cast, you could try out fo

Any audition is a good experience... the more you audition, the better you get at auditioning.
