So Bette Midler would like to see Senator Rand Paul be physically attacked by his neighbor again because he had the nerve to call out both parties (especially Republicans) about the spending in the new budget. I think his objection held the voting up for about 1 hr and the budget bill passed easily - wow.

I mean I love inappropriate humour so I personally find it funny - but of course she shouldn’t have done it. I always find it funny that we tend to associate violence with ‘the right’ but in practice when we look at tweets like this or college campus protests etc. it seems that in reality there are violent behaviours taking place in all spheres.

After reading your post, you are probably right and she was just joking. Years ago, we all would have laughed at that comment but it is a different world today.

Of course she was joking. If you actually followed her on twitter, you would be familiar with her humor and perhaps would have considered her response, "Selective outrage committee so worked up about a joke! How about some outrage 2 help solve Opioid Crisis, Mass Shootings, Puerto Rico?".

Honestly, consider switching from FoxNews to her twitter feed for better news analysis and some laughs. She's far more reliable.

First, I think this is just fine as a humorous tweet. Second, I don't like Rand Paul, because I hate his social conservatism and I don't trust him very much in areas where we agree.

However, I don't understand the hostility towards this particular act. Conservatives should understand why someone would oppose such a fiscally irresponsible bill, and liberals should understand why someone would prefer to bring troops home from Afghanistan rather than increase military spending.

Rand Paul doesn't care about spending or the deficit or he wouldn't have voted for the tax bill that EXPLODES the deficit.

Rand Paul cares about getting on TV because he wants to run for President again.

I also respect that Bette Midler  has stood by her tweet and not deleted it/backtracked as seems to be the common mode of action for these type of social shaming/outrage situations.
