Couldn't disagree with you more. This narrative that Ben was in a league of her own ahead of the others girls is bull. Shangela was right there with her from episode one. But, that narrative fits right in with the fandom of this show always preferring the white queens who don't have to work nearly as hard as the queens of color.
Shangela gave me everything this season. She and Ben were the front-runners, and when Ben left, she was the only viable option. Instead, we get Trixie who is probably the most undeserving winner ever. Never won a challenge, never won a lipsync. Her stats this season placed her in FOURTH behind the other three in the finale. Her most iconic/memorable moment this season was how terrible her snatch game was.
I'm sure Trixie is a wonderful person, and I love what she does outside of the show, but she's terrible at Drag Race.. and at the end of the day, isn't this a competition? "May the best woman win" or the one with the biggest fan following?
Looks like the other queens disagree, too -- they're the ones who put a stop to Shangela's hopes for the crown.
I wonder if some of it had to do with Shangela's second run at the crown a few years back. She was going on and on about "strategy" and she pulled some ugly head games on one of the lesser contestants and was rather unpleasantly pleased with herself for having done so. I was noticing that this year that the queens seemed by and large to be keeping their distance, with only poor old Trixie falling for Shangela's Jedi Mind Sh*t over that stupid note of Thorgy's.
Yeah, we disagree about Shangela. She's gorgeous in drag, there's no doubt, and she's got a degree of energy, but there's no versatility there at all. She's never once been surprising or different, as Ben was with that remarkable Goth girl. The best Shangela could manage was that silly fat suit.
RuPaul personally chose Trixie over Kennedy, so perhaps you should write her, and be sure to include your accusation that "the white queens don't have to work nearly as hard as the queens of color." And please post her response, 'cause that I would love to see.

Y'all can defend it all you want. And I'll continue to point out how uninspired Trixie was both seasons, and how undeserving she is of the crown.

Mileage. It varies.

You sound like Milk.
Hell hath no fury like a Shangela fan scorned. Let's all back away before JP2 gets all Daenerys on us.

It just amazes me how some don't understand where these sort of opinions stem from deep within them. You really do sound like Milk when she was coming for Kennedy's style of drag.
Shangela was consistently on top the entire season, but you say she's "one note". If a white queen performed like Shangela she'd be the second coming. She'd be praised for "elevating" her particular style of drag.
There is no excuse for someone who was ranked 4th to take the crown. It's like Roxxxy Andrews winning AS2.
But go ahead. Tell me how amazing Trixxxie was.
JP2, I am also a fan of Shangela and was hoping she would take the crown. I really don't see any appeal about Trixie. However, there were two persons of color, Chi Chi and Aja, on the jury, who could have voted for Shangela and at least get her into the finals. But they chose not to. So I'm not sure what your point is. And I love to hear Bebe speak. She reminds me of so many fake queens I've known over the years. She really thinks she is a "grand girl".

But why was that random gimmick put in place in the first place? Seems like they just needed to make sure another WOW girl won.
That was RuPaul's decision. There is nothing that goes on in that show that she doesn't make the final decision on. She can't pull a Jenny Jones and blame everything on her producers. She has the last word on everything.
I was wondering if there's been any reaction from the contestants about Shangela's rather shocking bottom of the fourth finish -- the revelation of that single vote must have been crushing. Any tweets or anything?

I can see why they didn't give it to Shangela, she's got a show in Vegas, etc, she's doing great. I love Kennedy, and I'd def. see her show, but I'm not sure she really screams winner, but she does give some great performances, but I thought Trixie did have the better lip-synch. She brought emotion, which a lot of queens forget. They just bring tricks - like Kennedy. You need to connect to the song.
So is there no reunion?
I'm curious if the #AllStarsWinnersSoWhite hashtag hasn't popped up on social media yet. As a white guy myself, I find it especially surprising to give Trixxie the win when 3 of the final 4 were girls of color, but once again we end up with the white one. Ok, admittedly Kennedy and Bebe were less than top-drawer allstars in the eyes of many (myself included), but I thought Shangela was a dazzling performer from whom the crown was stolen simply because she wasn't well enough liked by the queens she kicked off. (And honestly I was an even bigger fan of Aja who should have made it to the finals hands down.)
So we'll wait one more season for a big girl to take a crown, and one more season for a black girl to join Bob in the winner's circle.
You're voting each other off,
I'm voting the worst off.
I'm voting the best off.
I'm voting the one I personally don't like off.
I'm voting myself off.
The ones voted off are voting the ones left on off.
result: mediocre contestant WINS!!!
What a mess this season was, with such an unsatisfying win

Aja has been vocal on twitter and instagram about regretting not voting for Shangela. But makes a point that at the time, the Queens were in hiding with no phones, etc. while the entire season was filmed. So, it's not like any of them saw what we saw from Shangela's performance.
Shangela is going to be just fine, JP2. You’re probably more upset about her losing than she is. She was my pick to win, with Trixie second. But I’m happy for Trixie. Neither needed the win really. And with Ben quitting, any winner was going to be questioned really.
I think I'm coming off as a diehard Shangie fan, and I'm not. I thought she was tremendous this season, but I'm more upset that the white Queen with the worst track record beat three Queens of Color who performed better than she did.
I was a massive Katya fan during AS2 and wanted her to win, but I *understood* why Alaska won. She was great and deserved it. Trixie simply did not, and it's hard for me to understand the reasoning behind her crown other than her massive fan base outside of the show, and the fact that she's another WOW girl...

Agree with everything you say but Bob is already joined by Bebe and Tyra. Raja, Bianca, and Violet are also winners of color. Was really hoping to see Shangela join the Hall of Fame.
"Raja, Bianca, and Violet are also winners of color."
Honestly this is news to me. I've only watched Raja in the pitstop-- no idea she isn't white. I knew Bianca was Puerto Rican, but it slipped my mind when her name actually means "white" in Italian. I've seen several of her live shows and her stage persona evokes Diva New Yorker Bitch without much particular Latina flavor. Violet Chatchki is a girl of color? Really? Which one? Had no clue watching her entire season.
