Plays for High School Drama Club#1

So my high school has just revived its drama club, and while we have a super big theatre program, there is no one in drama club. To get more members and make the club more legit, we’re planning to do a no-profit staged reading of a play. Does anyone have any suggestions for a small cast (3 to 8 at most actors) play that isn’t too serious for a kind of silly drama club?

We were going to do Laramie Project, but decided it was too serious for starting out and too big a show. I’ve already suggested Effect of Gamma Rays. Any other suggestions?

You know you still have to pay rights and royalties, yes?  (You could TRY to get them waived, but I wouldn't count on it.)

Are you definitely looking for a full length?      Almost, Maine might be perfect....you could pick and choose which scenes to do (with permission - but I know they usually allow cutting).

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Yeah, we’re looking into fundraising for that. And while Almost Maine is an awesome show, a senior has already claimed it for a senior projext (ugh)

Neil Simon's FOOLS

Epic Proportions - which is a long one act, but pretty funny.

I Hate Hamlet (but male heavy)

There is a pretty silly one act play called "Rapunzel Uncut" by Mariah Everman.
