Assuming the next cast only gets 2 seasons as well, who do you hope is cast as the royal family for the upcoming seasons? We already have our queen with Olivia Colman set to play Elizabeth. There are rumors of Helena Boham Carter playing Margaret and I would support that 100%

I can't get enough Olivia Colman. She's been around a while, but it seemed like Broadchurch really boosted her career and I've loved her in everything I've seen her perform.

It is thrilling casting and I can’t wait! I do find it interesting, though. Helena is nearly 10 years older than Olivia. So I wonder how that dynamic will play onscreen. Margaret also goes through some serious stuff in the 70’s, so I’d expect the role to be award bait.

I don’t know if this is just my lack of knowledge of British actors, but I think Ewan McGregor would make a great Philip.

Ditto, TotallyEffed! The only way this show could make me mad is if they cast anybody other than Helen Mirren for seasons 5 and 6. Like, come on...casting in the bag.
Helen Mirren has already played the queen, I want to get someone new in there.

I don't really care about prior work; I care about getting a nuanced, thoughtful performance in the role of Queen Elizabeth II. No actress other than Helen Mirren has portrayed the queen so effortlessly and flawlessly (not to discredit Foy's stupendous work in these past two seasons in the slightest—but Mirren is Mirren!).
Also, to me, it's kind of exciting. If Mirren were cast, she could well be an Academy, Tony, and Emmy winner for the same role in three totally different properties. That, to me, is much more exciting than taking a risk on someone new when we already know we have the perfect match for the queen in her later years.

Looks like talks with him fell through....
I know we’re 2-4 seasons off from Prince William and Harry, but if George MacKay doesn’t end up playing William, I think I’ll riot.

Paul Bettany continues his reputation of backing out of deals at the last minute, which always sort of baffles me since I’ve yet to see him in anything that makes me think of him as an indispensable actor. I’ll admit he’d have made for a believable older version of Matt Smith.
I love the Ewan McGregor idea. He’s such a genius. Is Helena Bonham Carter official yet? Margaret is a perfect role for her. And it’s kind of neat she has already played Margaret’s mother.
