There’s a thread for movies and I was wondering what were some of the highlights of television for you in 2017?
I think my favorite series of this year have to be Season 2 of the Crown and Stranger Things, season 4 of Black Mirror, The Handmaids Tale, and Big Little Lies. Some honorable mentions are season 8 of shameless and season 2 of the good place.
I still have to get to season 2 of This Is Us.

The Best:

The Leftovers, Season 3 ( brilliant, brilliant television, one of the all time greats.)

Legion, Season 1 (trippy and weird and so refreshingly different from every other superhero show or movie)

Game of Thrones, Season 7

Orange Is the New Black, Season 5

Silicon Valley, Season 4

I still have so much to check out and catch up on.

Netflix:  American Vandal

Amazon: The Amazing Mrs. Maisel

I don't think anything else wowed me.  Sad to say.

The Crown, for sure. So, so good.

Mrs. Maisel is first on my list for 2018!

"Victoria" (PBS).  Joining the cast in January for Season Two is the wonderful Diana Rigg, seen here all too quickly in this clip.

This was the best season of ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK since the first (in my opinion), and the best PROJECT RUNWAY in years. RUPAUL'S DRAG RACE had a great batch of queens, but felt a little too produced - still great though. I also thought THIS IS US, CRAZY EX-GIRLFRIEND, and INSECURE kept their momentum going, and VEEP is still the best comedy on television.

I'd also like to point out that the Netflix remake of ONE DAY AT A TIME is fantastic, and season two arrives in a matter of days. It's a breeze to watch and both Justina Machado and Rita Moreno are brilliant.

Those who include the second season of "Stranger Things" should be ashamed. I've never seen such a dramatic drop in quality between two seasons of a television show before...

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
The Handmaid's Tale
Stranger Things 2
Transparent
I haven't gotten around to watching Big Little Lies or Feud yet, but I'll probably love them.

Also, aside from that one episode and those two completely useless new characters, I thought this season of Stranger Things was just as good as the first, with this season having much better visual effects and cinematography.

The Good Place - season 2 is a gigantic improvement on the already great season one.

It was released in the last quarter of 2016, but I didn't see it until the beginning of 2017, so my vote goes to:

FLEABAG (on Amazon)

Series 2 coming in 2019!
