It must be doing well, since I can no longer find discount codes.  Any predictions for codes popping up in the next month or two?  I have a Sunday night slot to fill during my next NYC trip, and this show would fit nicely.

I believe on Jan 5th we'll find out which shows will participate on Bway week discounts in late Jan/early Feb. Last year, even Dear Evan Hansen participated.

I also missed the discount codes - waited too long to buy tickets. Box office told me all discounts had been withdrawn due to very robust ticket sales.  I ended up paying full price as the performance I wanted was almost sold out!

Still, I think you can keep watch in Feb/March as it seems likely there will be codes again, or at least some tix released to TKTS day of...but good for this show!  Things looked pretty damn bleak before the rave reviews came out!

Hope you get to see it!  My tix are for January...

Here's a website talking about Bway week. Looks like it will be Jan 16 to Feb 4, 2018! Check back on Jan 5th to see which shows have tickets.

They don't currently have rush tickets, but I went to the theatre about an hour before last Saturday's matinee and asked.  They sold me a great seat for $79.50.  Just go to the box office and ask.

I wouldn't be surprised if many shows put out discounts offers right after the first.  Take a look at their availability currently, that will give you a good idea.   Lots of seats for most performances?  Discounts coming, 75-80% sold?  Not so much.

Sorry that code won’t work. I called Telecharge. They said all discount codes for show has been discontinued

I’m sure if you wait a few days there will be something. They aren’t at capacity yet, and these weeks are traditionally much higher than January so currently they are getting by without discounts in favor of comps, lottery, etc to achieve their full houses— while obviously no one really knows what the public will do until they do it, I, personally, don’t see this going much longer without discounts because I don’t think the target audience can afford it at top prices. I still remember when I walked into the box office for Spamalot and I saw $110 listed for the top price, the first I had seen go that high (at least that’s how I’m remembering it now) and when the shows started selling premiums just a few years ago, I said to myself that it would go one of two ways— the first, that the shows wouldn’t be able to sell tickets at such outrageously high prices because the public couldn’t afford it. That however turned out not to be true. The second was that it would result in shows only of a particular taste being successful; and I think that is what happened. Bette can’t sing anymore and she wins a Tony for participation and people pay $1k to sit in the front row. OOTI is a great production, but it doesn’t appeal to alchoholic housewives, trust fund babies, and finance professionals so they will have to compete in a much more difficult and crowded arena amongst those who actually have to consider the cost of purchasing tickets as part of their budget. I actually was thinking earlier this week that if this could stay open and if it were to win for revival (I’m not sure it would of course, just saying that if it did) it’s best hope for a recoupment might be a transfer to New World Stages. Because there IS a market for this show, I just don’t think they can afford it without discounts. And discounts mean they likely won’t be recouping.

Gee,PatrickDennis, hope 2018 is better to you than 2017 apprently was.

Bette got a Tony for "particiaption"?    Drunk housevives and trustfund babies?   No such thing has happened -- I fall into none of those categories, and yet I still manage to go see most shows...most with discounts, but not all.

Jesus. First of all, there are a number of shows that are making money on B'way right now without Hamilton-like prices. Second of all, theater lovers are in my experience more like Moss Hart's Aunt Kate than "alcoholic housewives, trust fund babies, and finance professionals."

Third of all, what you say about only a certain type of show making money is dead wrong. Here AFAIK are some recent shows that have recouped:

- Hamilton

- Sunday in the Park With George

- Come From Away

- Dear Evan Hansen

- Fun Home

- Waitress

- School of Rock

None of these are the type of shallow spectaculars that you describe in your post. In fact none of these shows opened with a huge name star a la Bette Midler with the possible exception of Sunday in the Park With George.

I should clarify that I wasn’t calling all theatre-goers drunk housewives et al. I was commenting that there is an element of the ultra wealthy scooping up tickets at any price, and that the experience itself is almost irrelevant, just like the cost of the ticket is, and this is pricing what we would call “theatre-goers” out. I am not wrong about this. Just look at the bar lines for $65 drinks at certain shows, where they can barely serve everyone at intermission. And I didn’t say shows couldn’t survive in this era, I said it’s really competitive, and the trajectory is moving toward the problem getting worse, which is why a show like OOTI maybe won’t make it in this market when they might have made it in another. I liked Bette and thought the show was good. But if she had been just some lady, she wouldn’t have won a Tony. There were better performances period. But she keeps prices high, and the bar line full, and that’s all anyone who really has power in the industry cares about. I can assure you that if Circle in the Square had an offer of something with a major star, they would have passed on OOTI.

"Once On This Island" was on the boards today for it's matinee at 50% off.  Now that New Year's is almost over with and this past week is always the most crowded, I'm sure it will go back on the boards for the next few months.

Hey all, I need some advice. I'll be visiting NYC in July and Once on this Island is definitely on my list of shows to see! I'm only a teenager so my dad isn't comfortable with letting me rush by myself nor does he want to wait in line with me. I know July is quite far away, so should I wait to buy my ticket just in case there are discount codes? I'm worried that the show won't be at TKTS because it'll be during summer months. Thanks!

I do not think this is a decision you have to make in January.  Wait until spring to see what is happening with the show.  Even if discounts have not returned, you still would be able to get full price tickets for July at that time.

The only rush i know of for Once on this Island is the rush lottery so you and your dad can both do it together around 2 hours or 1.5 hours before the show begins. Good luck!

Also, I recall reading somewhere that Lea Salonga is leaving the production end of June? I don't think an official announcement has been made but it has been rumoured at least.

What are the odds of OOTI being on TKTS for friday evenings peformance? I’d prefer to not wait for the rush or lotto in case it sells out and would rather get seats at TKTS at the Brooklyn location.

From what I've read, they've been very generous with their lottery and offering "lottery loser" seats for only a little more money. I'm planning on seeing it Sunday and most likely doing this.
