I believe Cinders means he'd prefer a studio album of the score, rather than using the vocal track of the cast singing live during the broadcast.
It's being released the day following the broadcast? I assume only for digital download? How are they going to mix and master the live vocals that quickly?

No clue! I also wondered if they were going to use a live vocal track from tomorrow's final dress rehearsal rather than Sunday's. But if the broadcast is over say 9 or 10pm EST, it would already be "done" and on iTunes ahead of midnight. As of now, I only see the digital releases.

As all previous live television musicals' soundtrack recordings, this has also been pre-recorded in advance. FOX is preferring to release the soundtrack AFTER the live broadcast in order to keep the live broadcast a fresh experience.

Yes, thank you, that's exactly what I meant. I just loathed the mixing and production value on the "Peter Pan Live!" album, and assumed they wouldn't do a recording like that again. But, oh well.
Let's face it, EVERYTHING about "Peter Pan Live" was loathsome. How could such a hideous production produce a good cast recording of that score?

But those lost boys were pretty FINE.....
hm i could have sworn they announced these songs would be recorded in the studio, similar to The Sound of Music and Hairspray
It is. The soundtrack is being pre-recorded like all other soundtracks have been from these live musical broadcasts.
Correct. They already recorded the soundtrack in the studio. My little buddy Sammy Ramirez is Schwartz. Looking very forward to seeing him in his TV debut since I didn't make it up to NY when he was in SOR.

But why do the tracks say (Live) if they were recorded in studio?

This interview makes it sound like that's just an opening credits number.

How can they call this album definitive? Neither album represents the final stage version of the score. Definitive in what way?

I guess it's what they consider the best and/or final version of the show?

Oh, yay! So happy!!!

Don't the creators get to decide what the definitive version is? Plus, anything they add the the broadcast will end up getting rolled into the future stage versions anyway, most likely...
I don't think the stage version needs much improvement. I only wish they had made a recording of the original Broadway cast. John Bolton, Erin Dilly, Caroline O'Connor, Johnny Rabe and the rest of that cast was simply perfection.
