Can someone explain to me what this is/means?  The show already exists, right?  And since Stroman is doing it, what does she have to develop?  Is there a new concept for this production?   Help me understand.  Thanks.

There are probably some new ideas they are playing with, but developmental labs are also sometimes used to raise money.

I posted this in another thread: Gershwiniana is about to go public domain in the next few decades piece by piece. When Stroman conceived the show, the Gershwin estate was very careful with what they would allow to be used and how. They’ve grown looser with their restrictions over the years, and since the modern Gershwin musicals will soon be their only source of revenue, they’re much more willing to allow things they wouldn’t before.

Suppose, hypothetically speaking, that Stroman had intended to use elements of Rhapsody in Blue in a dance sequence; while decades ago the estate may have said to write this out of the show, today they may be more willing to play ball.

Tony Yazbeck played the lead in the Lincoln Center one night show months ago.  Any chance he'll do the lead again?
