It's a toss-up between Great Comet closing and Hello Dolly at the Tonys (performance choice and the appropriateness of Midler's acceptance speech, the latter of which was a HUGE DEAL to really old-school highly conservative closed-minded Tony purist marms and their grandmothers).

-Great Comet seemed by far the biggest/most involving-there were at least three or four sizable threads solely about the controversy -The whole Betsy Wolfe kerfuffle -Perhaps the MFL casting? While I wouldn’t call it a scandal, it definitely got a lot of attention this year.
