Wow! Look at the screen behind Christy! That's clearly from the animated movie, and not the normal projections they have for "Journey to the Past." How sweet!

Thank you! I haven't seen the show or the movie, but this is quite cool!
I don't think it was for an actual performance.. It was probably performed after the show. In the show she's wearing a brown coat for the scene. in this special 20th anniversary performance she's wearing the red dressing gown from the scene where she reunites with her grandmother at the hotel.
I would have been impressed if Liz Callaway came out to sing it.

Lovely. It's also always worth noting: the "I Want" song in the animated film became the first act curtain. "Some People" put in the "Everything's Coming Up Roses" position. Or "The Wizard and I" turned into "Defying Gravity." I'm sure it works, but without a lyric change, it's a rare example of a song fitting both places in storytelling.

This is gorgeous. Thanks for sharing.
I got chills watching this especially the moment when Christy and animated Anya struck the same pose and it all just lined up so beautifully.

That's just a testament to how brilliantly written t that song is. I'll say, when I heard back when that the placement of this song was changed for the musical, I wondered how the heck that was going to work since I always knew it as the quintessentially perfect Non-Disney "I Want" song, and that's what it made for in the film, so how could changing it's placement work?? But leading up to me finally seeing the show and THEN finally seeing it, I was like "WAIT IT REALLY DOES WORK AS BOTH BY SOME MIRACLE!" Literally nothing about it was changed except it's place in the story, but those lyrics are so damn brilliant, that it works as an "I Want" as well as a "I Will" Act closer song (I just made that term up right now). I honestly can't see this song NOT being the act break anymore after seeing the show and how it's structured. It works.
Can we also about the delightful irony of this song for a sec? She's talking about how she needs to move forward to...find her past?? DAMN I LOVE THIS SONG
