Barbra Streisand claims that she will never tour again!

In an interview with the Washington Post, Oscar, Tony, Grammy and Emmy winning actress and singer Barbra Streisand is claiming that she will never tour again.  She says that she is more interested in recording albums and making films than touring.  I think that it's incredibly sad that she never gave anyone the "heads up" that this was the end.  I am very happy that I got to see her this last go-round, she was phenomenal!

I have been fortunate enough to see her in concert a handful of times.  Until this last tour she only toured every 6 years.  I do believe this was her last tour, although she has said it many times and then toured I do not think she will be touring again...maybe just private performances for charities.

At 75, can you blame her?   If she can't do only what she wants by now, then all is lost.

I thought I would never see her in concert. Then in 1994 she was back on stage. It was truly does feel a lifetime. I've seen her numerous times throughout the years. If it is the last time she tours I feel satisfied I've gotten to see her.

She can also just do a concert for a small venue if she feels like it without the pressure of touring.. Jason finally has new music coming out next month. Maybe she'll return the favor and be a guest star at his performance.

Probably not. I bet she'll be in the audience though.

To say that she’ll never tour again is not to say that she’ll never perform again. She may not have been on stage for the last time.

During this last 2016/17 tour, I felt that her formidable voice was at 80% of what it had been at her peak.  A very respectable performance – especially at age 75.  Nothing to be embarrassed about.  But the reality is: the voice can only go downhill from here.  Best for her to retire from touring while she’s still on top.

I kind of disagree. I thought Barbara Cook got better with age. It's not the same power, or perfection, but age adds something else. It's a different product they are selling.

Barbara Cook’s voice remained polished whereas Streisand’s voice is blown. Just watch the trailer for this Netflix special. Her voice is shot and rough. Not polished as Cook’s older voice was. From 1994 till now, Streisand’s voice has deteriorated. That’s why she’s done. She’ll continue to record as she can fix things in post but “live”, what comes out comes out. She can’t control that.

Truly, go when they still want more and remember you at your peak. Think of Callas and Nureyev all performing well past their due date and it was just a shaming. ( eps considering the prices!)
