Band's Visit Seating Q#1
Posted: 11/10/17 at 8:26pm

Hi

In reading the reviews of The Band's Visit, there was one that suggested that sitting anywhere other than downfront wasn't the best idea.  My petite wife and I really like sitting in the front row of the Mezzanine for musicals -- but this comment has my attention.

Could the folks who have seen the show offer their thoughts on what's the best place to sit for this show -- and whether Front Mezzanine is still too far away for this "intimate" experience.

Thanks to all in advance

M

I was last row mezzanine center and I could see and hear fine. I don't really think there's a bad seat for this. I would just avoid the extreme sides.

I honestly think front mezzanine would be great for this show!  I saw the show from the extreme side on house left, and I still didn't even mind the view.  I definitely agree that close up is better for this show, but I think front row mezzanine would be quite a good view, and it would still allow you to feel close to the actors.

I sat in the last row of the front mezzanine, and, while I was able to see and hear the actors just fine, I wasn't nearly close enough to make out their facial expressions with any sort of clarity. Thus, I feel like I missed out on the subtleties of the performances. I usually like to sit in the front row of the mezzanine, as well, but, in this case, if I were to see the show again, I would want to be in the orchestra, towards the front.

We always sit front row mezzanine and for this show it was perfect center mezz A 107-106.

I would recommend against sitting in the mezz. I sat in row E of the front mezz and the Barrymore is a small theater but the mezzanine is very far recessed from the stage. So while I could see everything just fine I felt like a show this intimate needed more up-close detail. I also felt like unlike many shows sitting in the mezzanine didn't give me an advantage in terms of seeing the choreography patterns, etc. In fact the mezzanine made the churning of the turntable set more obvious and some of the scenes and interactions more artificial.

Just going to bump this up I bought last minute tickets for this, and I got rear mezz row e the last two seats on the side :/ I know it’s kinda far and to the side, but I got each For really cheap. I’m just wondering how exactly is the view and sound from here?

Hey, I'm looking at ticket options for our next NY trip and am wondering how close one should get to the stage. Is it high and/or wide? I love being close, but don't like to be constantly looking up or scanning from side to side. There are currently center orchestra seats in the third row and the sixth row; which would you recommend?

It's not particularly high, and the stage is fairly narrow. I was in the second to last row, and I could see fine, although I couldn't see any facial reactions. I must say I found some parts (especially dialogue) difficult to hear, but not bad enough that I had no idea what they were saying. If you can afford a closer seat, go for it, but it's certainly not necessary

I didn't go down to the orchestra seats, but, from where I was sitting, the stage looked pretty high to me. I don't think you can go wrong with either of those choices, but, if you don't want to look from side to side, maybe the sixth row would be better for you. Personally, I would probably choose the third row. Are both seats the same price? Maybe someone who's sat there would be able to give better insight than I can. Thanks!

Based on that second image, it appears that the orchestra seats follow a strong curve, which puts center orchestra row 3 at a nice distance from the stage (as opposed to the ends of the rows, which get much closer to the stage).

To answer your question, both rows (3 and 6) are the same price.

Great! As I'm sure you've figured out from reading the comments about the show, the story doesn't unfold in just its dialogue or songs. Its unspoken moments, which include the actors' facial expressions and silent reactions, are equally important, which is why I believe closer is better, in this case.

I saw the show from the third row center of the orchestra and could not have been happier - with the seat or the show!

That's good to know! So you didn't have to look up from that position?

I’m looking to buying tickets Row B side orchestra seats 1 and 3 or 2 and 4. Does any one know if these seats are good?

i sat sat in the 4th row orchestra and would describe the view as perfect. I would choose 3rd row over 6th row but both would be great.

The stage is moderate -not high and not low.  I posted a picture on aviewfrommyseat..com that shows the stage height fairly well.

I sat in the Orch 7th row extreme right and thought it was a wonderful view (especially for the low Stubhub price!). I missed a tiny bit of the band being onstage, but was very happy with my experience.

I sat in the front row of the mezzanine both times I went to this show, and I loved it. I was pretty far over auditorium right but the Barrymore is so small that it didn't seem to matter.

I would REALLY appreciate any help! :)

Which box do you think is best: A B C D E or F ? Why?

Where are the seats 1 - 4 located in each box? Which have the best leg room?

Thank you so much!
