Not my cup of tea (way too poppy, feels like it should be a theme song for a Disney channel show) but I'm glad to see original musical films are making a comeback! These songs should be right up the alley of Pasek & Paul fans - I sent them my mom's way as she adored DEH.

I don't like it. It sounds a bit cheap and repetitive. Instead of creating something original, it's like they have some sort of checklist of rules they use to make things appealing to the current youth. But uninspiring and cheap to me.
Eh...both songs sound identical. zzzzzzzzzz

Variety was given a chance to listen to the entire musical score -- and here they share their thoughts on the promise of this score :

"Among the other original songs: “The Other Side,” sung by Jackman and Zac Efron (as Phillip Carlyle, whom Barnum convinces to join his company), and “Rewrite the Stars,” a duet performed by Efron and Zendaya (as an acrobat with whom he falls in love). Both are distinguished not only by their memorable music and lyrics but by Gracey’s eye-popping staging." They referred to the staging.
Keala should start dress shopping now cus she will be singing on the Oscars. Style clash or not, "This is Me" is a great stand alone song. The movie might flop but that song is gonna become an anthem for outcast, misfits, etc everywhere very easily. I can already see Jackman coming out in character to introduce the song and then her center stage belting to the rafters as 2 dozen circus performers doing their thing all around her. Oscar winner? Meh to early to call, but easy nomination.

So wait, Rebecca Ferguson (The White Queen, Girl on a Train) is playing Jenny Lind, the "Swedish Nightingale" soprano and one of P.T. Barnum's star attractions.
Does this Rebecca Ferguson (the Swedish actress, not the British singer of the same name) sing? Is she an impressive soprano?

Agreed. I LOVE it.

These songs are okay but more mainstream sounding than I expected - they are definitely targeting younger markets. Completely different from what I thought this movie would be like (old school theatrical -- don't know why, that was the assumption I formed). Eager to see it but my expectations of what it'll be like are changed. For some reason I thought the film would be, I don't know, classier?

This article gives more context to the contemporary tone of the musical score. It was written from a set visit but published only after the first trailer came out.

Interesting backdrop on THE GREATEST SHOW and a surprising reason as to how THIS IS ME came about.
Third song released! This one is sung by Zefron and Zendaya (what a pair).
Listen!

Maybe it's just because the word "rewrite" is the main chorus, but this song sounds very familiar to Pasek and Paul's Rewrite this Story from Smash...
