Betsy Wolfe and Sutton Foster Project? |
I don’t have any information, but I do know that Emily Padgett is contracted for “Charlie” until March, so if it is “Sweet Charity” it logically adds up for her to take on Helene.
If it was a sweet charity revival I feel like we would have already gotten an announcement(or maybe its some sort of lab?) Whatever it is I hope we find out soon!
Haven't they both been rumored to be attached to Jason Robert Brown's musical adaptation of A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN? Could it possibly be a reading/workshop of that?
ETA: It could also be possible that the "we're" Wolfe is referring to is the company of WAITRESS, who is probably(?) currently rehearsing with Jason Mraz, and she was just expressing their collective agreement with Sutton's tweet.
I spoke to Shuler Hensley about it 2-3 weeks ago and he said it was mostly pending Sutton Foster's schedule but it was definitely on the table and there was a strong interest to make the transfer happen.

We need Sutton back on Broadway!!! And I think the show would totally work at the Booth as well as the Circle. They designed it more as a thrust, but I think the whole point is just that it's "intimate" - I don't think it needs to be in a certain theater.

No WAY! Ugh, I really hope it happens. Sutton's Charity is a revelation, and truly deserving of a Broadway revival. Cy Coleman's wife said that when it transfers, she knows it needs a bigger orchestra. I hope Sutton can amend her schedule for this to materialize.

I just feel like there has been NO talk of this, so thinking it's dead? But why isn't Roundabout rallying for this?!
If Charity does transfer, it seriously needs to have work done in the costume and wig department. I'm sure Sutton was great as Charity, but the blonde Walmart wig and nurse dress were not working with the production.

Oh yes i agree! That wig was hideous. Even Winnie Foster's wig in Tuck Everlasting looked better than that

Because other than a great performance from Sutton Foster --- it was a horrible production. Plus even if they hired a new director and retooled, they would need Sutton for a minimum of 9 months, and with her YOUNGER schedule, there's no way that's happening anytime soon.

Well this explains Carousel, I think. They started something with Carousel this week per an ensemble member. And Josh Henry is out as Burr in Hamilton tour at least all of next week, presumably also for Carousel work. So I guess this project interfered with it.

Highly unlikely. Actors don't tend to drop out of lead roles on Broadway in order to participate in readings or labs for a show that might maybe happen somewhere someday.
I mean if this is the case and she wasnt fired as people have said, I think she made a poor decision from leaving a broadway show for a reading. However though we did get Lindsay Mendez.

Readings and workshops often don't finish casting until a day or two before they start --- it all depends on who is available that week --- so, yes. Any other questions?
Ooh... Intrigued. Virginia Woolf's life doesn't seem like the easiest to turn into a musical. Sure, she's no Sylvia Plath but she's no Jane Austen or Charlotte Bronte either.
Interesting. I wouldn't normally think of Sutton Foster when Virginia Woolf is mentioned. Raul Esparza, however, makes just about everything worth existing.
He’s hinted at a return to Broadway happening sooner then later. Is it this? Something soon? Just him standing on a stage would work too.
Carousel is doing a pre-rehearsal lab. Wolfe couldn’t do it because she is rehearsing with Jason Mraz. Whatever they’re working on in the lab, it was decided that Wolfe’s absence was a dealbreaker.
That’s it. That’s all.

THANK YOU. I posted literally the same thing a week or so ago on another board and people weren't buying it at all.

Sorry Cinders, I'm not single --- but send a photo, maybe we can work something out!
