Bumping this now that we know The Cher Show's official dates at the Neil Simon (first preview on November 1; opening on December 3).

I guess we can hope that King Kong, Pretty Woman, or Head Over Heels ends up being shockingly better than we have reason to expect, but...it's not an inspiring list, that's to be sure.

"

Add Cher to that list for me and yeah, next season seems dismal. Kiss Me, Kate is the only show I actually want to see at this point. I'm hoping for Hadestown (though the Orpheus character needs work) or Secret Garden (even though I saw both recent concerts) or Moulin Rouge. Not so sure about Jagged Little Pill. Love the album, not sold on the plot summary.

Looks like another season where I'll be staying home and saving money.

Realized only one musical revival has been announced so far. Surely hope Crazy For You, Dreamgirls and Sweet Charity all announce they're opening this season.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour will be starting up in Somerville, NJ on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City, MO(May 29-Jun 3) and is now then touring throughout Japan August & September 2018. Japan schedule: Tokyo(Aug 15-21), Kanagawa(Aug 28-29), Shizuoka(Aug 30), Osaka(Aug 31 - Sept 2).

Finally saw The Ferryman and it is by far the greatest new drama I have seen in a long time. I hope that American audiences are receptive even if they don't know all the history because it is absolutely phenomenal.

Really hoping Hadestown makes an announcement soon. The new crop of musicals seems like all jukebox stuff or mediocre.

Anyone have a guess of how long they think Mockingbird will be around? I know it’s set to open in December, but I was looking to do a cheap January trip. I would assume it would last through January, but I don’t know how long the run is planning on going

I’m pretty sure it’s an open run.

Great thanks. Was primarily headed up for that, and January is so cheap but didn’t want to miss it.

I'm happy about it. Not that I have anything against musicals, obviously, but plays are getting more under-appreciated by the season.

Rumored productions looking to open this season:

Hadestown

Jagged Little Pill

Moulin Rouge

Tina Turner

Dreamgirls

Crazy For You

The Secret Garden

The Honeymooners

I think some of these are just waiting for the right theater to open up.

Genuinely excited to see what next season brings. I'd love to see a Moulin Rouge/Hadestown showdown for best musical and a Kiss Me Kate/Dreamgirls competition for revival. I also have a soft spot for The Secret Garden, hoping it shows up too.

"Aint Too Proud" is certainly on a path to a spring 2019 Broadway opening. It plays The Kennedy Center, The Ahmonson in LA and a venue in Toronto this summer/fall. I'm guessing that they're hoping for a ton of great reviews and positive word of mouth to create a big advance sale once they announce a NY opening.

I also respect this path as it will really give the creatives a great opportunity to polish the show as much as possible before it opens on Broadway. DEH took a similar path, playing The Kennedy Center and off-Broadway before transferring.

Yes, but according to several sources, they were going to workshop it again with hopes of a Spring '19 target. But having seen it myself, it should never resurface again. It was the worse musical I've ever seen.

James Brown III (currently in Frozen) shared in his Insta story that he’s a part of the “June 2018 Reading” of Hadestown. Is this different from the London production?

DEH played Arena Stage, not the Kennedy Center.  A number of shows like Sideshow, Bright Star and Gigi were at the KC before Broadway; but not Dear Evan Hansen.

But on that note Dave the Musical WILL be at Arena Stage this summer with its eye on a Broadway transfer.  Additionally looking to make a potential transfer is Beetlejuice which has its initial run scheduled in DC at the National Theatre this fall.

I heard the Dreamgirls revival is dead and rightfully so. It was an awful production.

Actually no. DEH played Arena Stage in DC and THEN the Atlantic.
