Cool to see this Spiderman "reunion"... but I'm very sad to see Damon Duanno and Nabiyah Be are being ousted by bigger names, they were wonderful. Nabiyah's voice especially was youthful and gorgeous, although TV will also do a great job with this as well.
Do people really love Reeve Carney? I don't understand the appeal.
For what it's worth, I didn't feel very strongly about Damon Duanno at NYTW, and it actually occurred to me that Carney would be a really good fit for the role, even before his involvement was announced. I don't think he'll sell tickets, but I think he'll do well in the role.

Do we know that is the case? I mean, not sure what affect any names in this piece would have on ticket sales."
Or for that matter, what affect Reeve Carney's name would have on any ticket prices. Rocky Horror Live certainly didn't do anything to make his name more appealing.
Do we think this production is planning on coming in this season? I can see that happen, especially if Once Upon This Island can't overcome winter months and leave Circle open. Obviously it might sell well and then Hadestown tries to find another house which won't be all too difficult, but Circle feels like a more natural fit.

If I am not mistaken, this Canadian run will be presented in a proscenium space. Probably a way to test the waters for a Broadway theater in case Circle doesn't open up. I read somewhere that the Booth might be a good option? I don't know if it would be ready in time right after Meteor Shower for a production this season unless it opened during the summer...?
I strongly doubt this material would risk doing a summer opening (assuming you mean it pushes them to 2018-2019 season). I don't think it can run very long without a sustained word of mouth, and a strong showing during the award season. If it's late Spring right after Meteor Shower, then definitely Broadway theater. Otherwise I'm guessing they might have to keep their options fairly open.

I loved Nabiyah's voice as well. The combination of her and Amber and Patrick was magic. I liked Damon better in Beardo. At least at NYTW the Orpheus character was pretty annoying as written and he wasn't able to overcome that.
It is indeed staged in a proscenium space for the Canada tryout, and the impression I was given was that they were looking to come in next year. Despite that I think they'd be foolish not to consider crunching to get it in this year - less competition for those tonys
I'm hoping they come in this year. It would for sure add some competition for Band's Visit. But, I think that it could be a hot show and do well. Does anyone have any insider info on if this is transferring this spring? Dying to see it.
@Valentina, this show needs plenty of word of mouth to succeed. I agree a summer opening would be foolish.
@gypsy101, I feel the same way. Reeve Carney is a boring choice to me. Maybe I just hate his haircut.
I am hoping they keep this in a smaller theater -- one typically for plays might work best. The Booth would work wonderfully, but I'm nervous about producers rushing in after Meteor Shower instead of taking their time. Rainah, you do have a good point - Hadestown isn't going to be winning many technical awards, and this year seems to be mostly flash and spectacle commercial musicals. Only being up against one show (The Band's Visit) in the categories you're most likely to win leaves you with much better odds than most years.

This. He really didn’t make the character of Orpheus work for me, but I thought he was terrific in Beards. I’m interested to see Carney in the role, I think he could fit it well.

I was told a while ago they were looking to "take their time with it" so I was pegging them for next year. That was quite a while ago though, so I'm not sure if things have changed. There seems to be a great opportunity to open in the spring and scoop up a bunch of awards...

Yeah, I worry about this too. It's not your typical Broadway fare, but I think it can capture the interest of people who loved Once. But it's a little isolating -- especially after the lack of (financial) success with Great Comet, I wonder how much producers are willing to put money towards unconventional works like this.
Then again, I think Fun Home could have been isolating to audiences in a similar way but wasn't. Hadestown probably has a closer weekly running budget to Fun Home than it does to Comet as well.
FYI, this is the space they are performing it. Proscenium arch, no balcony, ~680 seats.
EDIT: I do remember hearing this is one of NYTW's most profitable shows in its history. Not sure where I heard it from. It seems to strike a chord with people.
