I saw her a few weeks ago. She was good.....very good, but I didn't feel she brought anything different to the part.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
She was my very first Roxie on March 17, 2011. She understudied that evening for Bianca Marroquin (who may have been auditioning for a role in the recent revival of Evita). I've seen her also in Fort Worth (2014) and regularly saw videos here and there of her most recent international tour stops in Seoul and Taipei. I also had a chance to visit with her onstage the last time I saw the show on Dec. 26, 2016. It was great fun posing with jazz hands. P.S. As far as I know, she has never performed the role of Velma. She's the ultimate Roxie.
"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)
