The American Repertory Theater world-premiere production of Burn All Night, a new musical featuring book and lyrics by Broadway actor Andy Mientus (Spring Awakening, Smash), with music by Van Hughes, Nick LaGrasta, and Brett Moses—members of the NYC-based band Teen Commandments—begins performances August 18 in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Burn All Night is staged in A.R.T.’s immersive venue, Oberon. Jenny Koons directs with choreography by Tony Award nominee Sam Pinkleton (The Great Comet).

Krystina Alabado (Spring Awakening), Ken Clark (Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812), Lincoln Clauss, and Perry Sherman (Fun Home) are cast in the central roles of four lost souls who come to the city in search of themselves in the wake of a global apocalypse.

Burn All Night will officially open August 23 for a run through September 8.

Selling an extra ticket to tomorrow, Sunday Aug 20th at 7:30pm. A GA ticket, facevalue $41. It's a hard ticket, but I'm going to the show too so we can meet before.

I enjoyed it. The songs are very catchy - if a cast recording were ever made my friend and I would definitely buy it. There were a couple of clunky transitions, and sometimes the space worked against them (the venue is Club Oberon, so it's an open space and you are standing throughout the performance - the actors use not only a main stage, but two portable mini stage boxes that stagehands move around at points, as well as the catwalk and the bar of the club) - unfortunately in a few places this meant the band drowned out the vocals of the actors. Also meant that due to the immersive atmosphere you weren't always sure whether you'd get in the way of a performer, lol. Acting was strong, and it was very moving in some places. I'd definitely be interested in seeing what changes are made for when it officially opens.

Andy was there - we spotted him at the start of the second act. Seemed to be pretty happy with the reception.
