I enjoyed the 2012 production with the exception of Elena Roger who was "a little (a lot) pitchy dawg." Luckily, when Eva started to get sick after intermission, Elena got less sharp. Lol

If they could get Patti to do an even one week stint I might just die.
That might just be the shortest amount of time between revivals on Broadway history. But after that atrocious revival, I'm down.
If they can get LuPone, I'll take up permanent residence in the theatre. She may be too old, but I think she's similar to Channing in that people will want to see her in the role - especially all the youngins (me) who missed the original production.
And Prince understand the material, unlike the last revival. The show is expository: it doesn't work without a concept. The show isn't that interesting without it.
"Sticks and stones, sister. Here, have a Valium." - Patti LuPone, a Memoir
Would Patti and ALW's beef get in the way of Patti reprising the role? I seem to remember there being talk of Patti replacing Elena in the last revival, but I don't remember what put the kibosh on that.
If the stars aligned and Patti played Eva again...... there's no way I'd miss that.
They were allegedly in SERIOUS negotiations for Patti to take over the last revival, but she asked for too much money. I mean: if you were asked to reprise your legendary, iconic, Tony winning performance, wouldn't you?

After Patti bashing not just ALW but the role of Evita - I would highly doubt that there would be interest on either side for that to happen (and that story about her taking starring in the revival 4 years ago seems overblown... I kind of envision her saying "if ALW will give me a million a week I'll consider it" and that was the end of it)
For me - I'll agree Elena didn't do much for me as Eva. And fortunately I saw Max Von Essen as Che - who I thought was superb. Loved the new orchestrations - and the addition of "You Must Love Me". If Hal were to bring some of those elements into his original production, I'd be more interested in this.
And for Evita - why not Eden Espinosa? The clips I saw of her in the production she was in looked and sounded phenomenal
How exciting! The 2012 production was horrendous in every way (look BC, we agree again!), starting with the nightmare that was Elena Roger's "singing." Cerveris was the only bright spot in an otherwise awful production.
I would fly up and pay a large sum of money to see LuPone take on the role, regardless of her age. However, I don't see that happening under any circumstance, so I'd be more than happy with Mandy Gonzalez or Eden Espinosa in that role.
Also, talented as she may be, I can't imagine they could get with casting Jen Colella or any white woman besides LuPone. Did this Great Comet fiasco teach us nothing? Cynthia Erivo would be all over that bit of casting in a second.
I wonder if Lady Gaga could sing the whole score. She's got a great voice decent acting chops and certainly has star presence. She'd be perfect for the part, but I'm not sure if she could hit all of the top notes. Plus she'd sell like Bette Midler.
It wouldn't be the worst casting decision to try and get the cast from the Vancouver production. Or just Caroline Bowman; she was pretty good as Evita.
The names of the three actors in the leading roles who will kick off the tour in October were announced on BroadwayWorld in May. The Eva is an alumnus of IN THE HEIGHTS...

Of course she could sing it. Despite being perfect for the role, I don't see her ever playing it. The hateful Madonna comparisons would come back with a vengeance.
