I'd love to see an Agnes of God revival (coming on the heels of seeing how A Handmaid's Tale is showing Trump America).

Dream casting?

Laura Linney (Mother Miriam)

Carrie Coon (Doctor Martha Livingstone)

Annaleigh Ashford (Agnes)

Any thoughts?

Annaleigh Ashford?   I love her but she is entirely wrong for this, for starters, she's far too old. Agnes should be 18 at the oldest.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Linney is 20 years too young, Ashford is 20 years too old.  Coon wouldn't sell a single ticket.

Annaleigh Ashford is 32. Are you saying the ideal age for Agnes is 12?

The show is probably not revivable. It's brand of mystery surrounding Catholic guilt isn't much relevant anymore but here is my cast:

Martha Livingstone: Cate Blanchett

Mother Miriam: Cherry Jones

Agnes: Anya Taylor-Joy

Laura Linney is 53 -- only 1 year younger than Anne Bancroft and 4 years younger than Geraldine Page when they both played the role.

Agnes wouldn't be 12.

After "The Leftovers" and "Fargo", Coon could for sure tell tickets. Not saying she's Bette or Ben but I don't think she'd do too bad for herself -- also, I'm not proposing a Carrie Coon one woman show so your whole comment is a little too catty to be taken seriously.

Jones is one of the greats but I wonder if she'd ever strap on the habit again.

I loved Agnes of God when I originally saw it back in 1982.  I've been waiting for a top notch revival ever since.  My choice would be:  Dr. Livingston - Cynthia Nixon, Mother Superior - Tyne Daly, Agnes - TBD

Emily Skeggs......interesting.
