Good for Great Comet for still pulling in a nice number without Groban!

Yay Comet! Definitely has an appeal outside of Groban.

I'm seriously happy to see the Great Comet doing well!  I was worried about it for a bit there.

Groundhog Day and War Paint will both close before Bandstand...

I feel like Comet has the appeal that it is the best new musical that you can actually get tickets to. And the "strange" immersive factor gets people talking (even if many don't like it) which Groundhog Day doesn't have.

Not surprised about GHD. I made my tirade about this one last week.

Bandstand's numbers are great either. Probably just around their weekly nut. All three may shutter by Labor Day.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour will be starting up in Somerville, NJ on January 20, 2018. The tour continues through Sarasota, FL(Apr 24-25); Panama City, FL(Apr 27); Jacksonville, FL(Apr 28); Kansas City, MO(May 29-Jun 3); then touring throughout Asia in June - August.

DEH held up remarkably well without Ben. Of course those seats were sold months ago. I wonder how the first set that goes on sale without him will do.

I think one of the reasons Groundhog Day isn't doing so hot is because they dropped the ball in their marketing department. I didn't really see any marketing until about mid-april and by that time, most of the summer tourist, who have been planning their trips for months, have bought tickets to other shows making GHD redundant.

I think most of GHD audience now a days, have probably bought their ticket at a discount the day of, either through, Tdf/ Tkts, rush, and the lottery and GHD isn't one of these shows where most of the audience is paying a discount.

So moral of the story, don't get cocky and neglect marketing.

I'm pretty positive that Groundhog Day's Tony performance was the nail in the coffin for that show.  Frankly, it's a decent production, but I won't miss it and I'm not going to be recommending a mediocre musical to my friends and family unless I feel like it's something they would like.  I feel no need to try to keep such an extremely mediocre show open.  They're marketing was and is virtually non-existent.  This makes me wonder if people are sick of the "The Musical" musicals.  Why spend $100+ on a ticket if you can just watch the movie on Netflix instead for free?

That being said, I hope that War Paint and Bandstand stick it out.  Bandstand and War Paint have kind of developed a cult following with it's cast albums.  Bandstand seems to be attracting teen girls and War Paint seems to be attracting older women and gay men.  Hopefully these groups will be able to keep these shows afloat for a while longer.

Awesome numbers for Kinky Boots.  The new Charlie is really bring people into the theatre.  Hopefully, they'll find an equally appealing replacement.

"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

Why did GHD fall by a hundred grand in a week with other modest rises?  Odd.  Was Karl out?  (Does it impact daily wrap?)  "BS," which I'm rooting for is clearly just hanging on, but it's inched close to $600,000 again.  I agree that August is rough for all three of the shows everyone is talking about.

There's no possible way that the massive production of Groundhog Day is in a financially sustainable place with those numbers. Heartbreaking, since it's one of my very favorite shows on Broadway. That said, I'm wondering which will be next on the chopping block: that, War Paint, or Bandstand?

Also, thrilled for The Great Comet

Ghd is fine, hogans told us all their numbers were sustainable until January and he is never wrong!

I mean sure they have barely been above op costs in the middle of the summer which means that in the fall they will probably be around 500k or less but no worries!

I mean sure they are always on tdf offering 45.00 tix in the middle of the summer and they just opened..but no worries! Hogan's says it's gonna be just fine so it will be!

^FAKE NEWS^

Sad when you can't even get away from it here.

OR: Actually, you can. Just do a search on everything I have said on this subject and you will see I never said anything attributed to me above. (And that I have called out this fake news before!)
