I also heard that Bernadette will only be doing a limited run, which is pretty consistent with some Ideas here.
If everyone knows surely an announcement must be imminent?

Sounds incredible! Hopefully they'll adjust the keys to Peters' strong upper range. Donna and Bette have rather lower voices.
Also, I just heard from someone that works closely with Dolly Parton that they don't think she would be interested in doing Broadway since, apparently, her voice is nearly completely gone.

It would not surprise me, especially because of the non-disclosure agreements that the cast had been rumored to sign. (If Garber's even signed a contract yet...)
Victor Garber is very much in the same vein as David Hyde Pierce (they're essentially the same actor, IMHO, except one has more hair). He won't sell tickets beyond the New York theatergoer crowd, but it's good, if slightly uninspired, casting. And it will be a Disney CINDERELLA reunion!

I am just excited beyond belief. First she showed us in Night Music that no one before or after her can sing and act Clowns like she can. Next she brought a lavish revival of Follies to NYC and showed us she can still navigate a complex score, and find novel and interesting characters to play. Finally, she will be returning home with her musical comedy roots to show us why she is the Greatest Star of All in Dolly.
I don't know why I'm frightened I know my way around here...
If PalJoey or another one of my 'haters' who are too conservative to bear my posts wants to knock me off you can probably count that I'll be in the first few rows of the Shubert at Bernadette's first performance, crying harder than she has ever done on stage before - and that's an impressive feat to accomplish.

Oh man I have to say I am THRILLED that it's Victor Garber. I've always wanted to see him onstage, but I've never had the opportunity before! I am ecstatic, and very excited to return to the show to see him. I'm less excited by Bernadette. I like her, but I've seen her life a few times, and I don't have any huge desire to see her as Dolly. Do we know if Donna is staying on as the alternate? If she and Garber will be doing shows together, that's my ideal cast.

What a great cast!
Any time Victor Garber returns to the stage is a reason for celebration. I have admired Mr. Garbers work since I saw him in "Tartuffe" in the mid 70s and have seen him do countless shows since then.
I also love Ms Peters but I have to say my initial thought was "I wonder where she will cry during the show/" I mean, lets face it, she cries at the drop of a hat.

I saw Victor Garber in Present Laughter at the Huntington in Boston back in 2007. I adored him. Have never had the chance to see Bernadette Peters perform - looking forward to the opportunity. Very excited by this casting. A number of those who traveled with me to see Bette and David in Dolly this May are now planning to return when Victor and Bernadette take over.
