Laura Linney... I get where you're coming from with Jennifer Aniston but I see Sienna Miller + Renee Zellwegger. Cynthia Nixon is almost kind of insulting. It's not as far off as other caricatures but the ways in which it's off add up to, well... it's not good. Can this guy just start tracing the headshots?

The thing is Laura and Cynthia have distinctive faces that would work for caricatures. He almost tried by giving Laura a strong chin but then he gave up and went back to the generically attractive features.

I love the photo sequence. Laura's expression just before her portrait is revealed seems to say, "Ooooh, I'm scared. I read the thread on BWW about how horrible these portraits are. Can I run away now before seeing it?" But in the next pic she looks satisfied.

Sardi's little foxes look like jennifer aniston & robin wrightI do not consider these to be caricatures when he is literally just badly copying a photo almost hair strand for hair strand. This looks like something out of a high school art class. He really should just trace them and save himself the time.

I'm kind of getting a Kristen Bell vibe from the laura Linney portrait, but the Robin Wright comparison is spot on.

And I remember this musical I remember their brilliance And I might never sleep again...

The thing that gets to me is that often the inaccuracies seem like attempts to "improve" the portraits. For Linney, he's curved the brow too much, made the eyes larger, slimmed the nose, made the chin smaller, made the lips fuller, lengthened the face and resisted deepening the dimples. She is gorgeous. It's not like she'd look like a haggard old witch if you drew her accurately. Also, everyone is so pale.

Exactly. Laura's smallish, kind of squinty eyes are a characteristic that makes Laura recognizable as Laura. A true Caricaturist would exaggerate that by making them squintier, not try to correct it by taking away the squint. Cause then she doesn't look like Laura any more.

Especially -- as noted in the other thread -- Norm Lewis.

Love the expressions on the recipients holding and posing with their caricatures.  Sutton speaks for everyone regarding her own.
