Come From Away Cast |
Hi! Usually cast replacements are announced on several broadway news websites (such as this one). However, most new shows have cast members on a yearly contract, so I would be very surprised if any of the original cast aren't still in the show in September.

I'd be surprised if anyone has less than a one year contract.
Truth be told, I doubt you'd even notice a cast change (with Jen Collela being the one exception). The characters are pretty standard, and should be quite easy to replace.

Um, wow, ouch much? Just because the other actors are not up for a Tony or extremely well known, does not mean they aren't important to the story. This is an extremely ensemble show and this cast, I believe, has been together since the start so they have created a bond together making this show even more special. Yes, people would miss Jen if she left, but the other actors have put in just as much work and are not, as you would say, standard. I think cast replacements, while inevitable, will surely be noticed.

Thats not what dramamama611 said at all, so tone it down. These roles are easily replaceable. It's not a knock on the cast. They are fairly elastic roles that allow for some wiggle room when replacing.
While it's unlikely that anyone from the cast will be leaving prior to September, the assumption in this thread is that the cast has at least a 1-year contract. The assumption is that the contract started not long before previews in February, ignoring the previous productions last year. The cast contracts most likely started with those productions.
Though I think this cast might have different contracts considering most of them have been with the show for all four of its out of town tryouts(Since June 2015). That's two years with the show. Kendra, Petrina & Geno are the only ones to not do all 4 previous runs.

I think people will be surprised when the original cast leaves. The accents are difficult to master, and the choreography is more difficult than it looks.

And I recall reading recently that Jen Collela joined just prior to the La Jolla engagement, and that everyone else at the time had been with the show from the very beginning - so that's 8 of 12 who've been with it an extremely long time. What are the chances they got themselves a deal similar to the ones many of the Hamilton OBC managed to negotiate for themselves?

Yes, this exactly. I wasnt knocking anyone....i found the show charming.
Is Jenn leaving any time soon? She recently posted on her Instagram saying that she is rehearsing a new show called the The Suffragists and it will be playing at the Public Theatre.

I'm assuming that since I can't find anything about the show, it's more of a smaller workshop/reading type performance? Hopefully meaning she won't have to leave the show. I could be completely wrong though.
Kind of shocked I haven’t seen anyone post about this... Jim Walton is gonna be great!

I suspicions they couldn't extend his (Lee MacDougall) Visa ( stealing a job from a qualified American!)
So welcome back Lee- truly a candles in the window and the kettles always on
only 2 more real Canucks to kick aboot.
Not to take anything away from this great ensemble cast, but I think it says a lot about the writing of an excellent play, that it can be recast without much angst. Eventually, everyone needs to move on artistically--look at HAMILTON. Good for them. Both plays were life changing for the actors in different ways.

Though it depends on the Visa, he most likely has a 3- year overall limit (for this production/employer). However, Astrid and Petrina are also Canadian, and while Petrina is also leaving soon (iirc), I haven't heard anything about Astrid. Also, any time spent out of the country extends the Visa by the equivalent time.

There are 10 original principal cast members currently in the show, and three original swings.

Should've said 9 once Lee leaves in November.

He, Jenn Colella, Chad Kimball, Joel Hatch, De'lon Grant, Alex Finke, Geno Carr, Petrina Brimley, Q Smith, Cesar Samayoa, Asterid Van Wieren, and Sharon Wheatley, are all magic on that stage. It was terriffic and tonight, when audience gave the cast a standing ovation, it was ovation well deserved and won. This is a fine cast and am very thankful to have experienced the Rock one more time.
Lucky you since you caught the show on its second anniversary.
