Passing Time Waiting for Rush?

I'm planning to travel to Broadway in a few moths, and I'm hoping to snag rush tickets to a few shows (namely GREAT COMET and COME FROM AWAY). Seems that the best way to guarantee seats for these shows is simply to get there as much as three hours before box office.

For my sake and probably many others, does anyone have any good tips for good ways to pass time while waiting for the box office to open?

Bring a portable phone charger and catch up on TV shows/movies. It'll easily pass the time for 3 hours.

Go buy a cheap chair to sit in.

Agreed a portable charger is great. I live in the city so I typically have time to go home so I bring a fold up chair because sitting on the cement for hours is rough. I also bring snacks and water but will make friends with the people around me so if I have to get out of line they know I was there. 

I found the fastest rushes to be when I talk to my friend or someone I met in line. Good luck and I might see you out there!

The chair, a book, whatever you can watch on your phone/tablet....but the most satisfying thing I've ever done is chat up the folks around me.  Met a lovely gal from Korea....we still stay in touch, and that was about 5 years ago.

What do you usually do when you have a three hour wait/plane/train/bus trip? A book is a good idea.People in the lines are friendly, and once you've established your place in line, will usually let you run to get a coffee or use a washroom while you wait.Good luck.

Another vote for the folding chair, and for chatting with the people next to you.

I have met some really lovely people and had some excellent conversations with people in rush lines. I always bring a book, my phone, etc. but I almost never end doing anything because I always get wrapped up in conversations.

Snacks, book/magazines, camping chair, sketchbook, noise-canceling headphones.

Another thought: You can also bring stamped postcards, pre-address them with your congressperson/senators' contact info, and once you're up and near a mailbox, send them your thoughts!

I always bring a book but rarely get to it. It's just too distracting with all the sounds of the cars and the city around you to read. Something like a magazine or coloring book or tablet game that takes less focus is a better idea. 

Basically, what everyone else said. The fastest rushes are the ones where you make a friend in line so you have someone to talk to.
