I'm thinking about seeing a play when in town next week. I'm more into musical theater, but if there is a play worth seeing what would you recommend?

I would be open to seeing off broadway too if any good ones are up.

And yes, I know that they are all different.....

I've heard Indecent's pretty awesome

Lots of excellent plays on at the moment! If you want to see a new drama, you could do Indecent, Sweat or Oslo. If you want a revival of a drama, go for The Little Foxes of The Glass Menagerie. If you want a light comedy, you could do either The Play That Goes Wrong, or Present Laughter (I recommend the former over the latter, unless you love Kevin Kline).

I agree with JBroadway, but I would also include Doll's House, Part 2. I saw it last night and thought it was excellent. On the light side, but it packs a punch, emotionally, too.

A Doll's House, Part 2. Sharp, though-provoking, and very funny, plus Laurie Metcalf gives the performance of the year.

I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

I agree, see A DOLLS HOUSE PART 2. (And INDECENT.)

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Another vote for A Doll's House, Part 2.

A little swash, a bit of buckle - you'll love it more than bread.

The Play That Goes Wrong is one of the funniest shows I've ever seen.

A Doll's House part 2 is absolutely phenomenal.  I also thought Indecent was fantastic.  Oslo and Sweat are also great.

Indecent is the best on, IMO. Sweat is good, too. I'll be in the minority saying Doll's House Pt. 2 is pretty thin and smug, but I enjoyed it and it has some of the best acting I've ever seen. I'd really encourage you to take a chance on something off-Broadway. A number of things at Signature. Dianne Wiest is excellent in Happy Days at TFNA, though it is not an easy play. Can You Forgive Her at Vineyard is very good as well.

A Doll's House, Part 2 is not to be missed.

Oslo. One of the best plays I have seen in years.

Thanks all! Some of these are on TDF also so am debating between Indecent and A Doll's House, possibly off-broadway Happy Days (although it doesn't sound so happy).
