Hoping it's a Brantley piece.
MaddieBB12 said: "I'm most interested to see how the reviewers will handle the adults-playing-children idea.
I also wonder how many reviews will bring up the murder of the two adults-playing-children characters.
Veruca. She gets torn limb from limb by the giant squirrels who then dance around with her body parts. Augustus's fate is left unknown (he may have been made into fudge), and Mike is the only one who survives for sure, though he is Barbie-sized.
If it's Brantley, I hope it's as good as the review for THE LITTLE MERMAID.

Ouch! "Joyless, shapeless and grating, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a stale Necco wafer of a musical."
Younger audiences can cheer, but adults are bound to conclude that Charlie is like what happens with an Everlasting Gobstopper: lots of sucking.
Oh...my god.

I feel as if David Cote was brutally harsh with this one. I haven't seen the show, but his review sounds like he had his mind made up before he even saw the show.
One could say his summary reviews are "joyless, shapeless and grating" too.

Mixed?
I don't read a lot in this interview that would encourage me to see it. If "mixed" means -- "it could have been worse", then maybe.

"That was the line I cringed at, too. "At least" he liked the adults playing children.

I thought the performance started at 6:30 tonight; how are there already reviews?

Even so...5:00pm curtain should get out at 7:30, no?

Reviewers didn't just see the show tonight. Usually reviews are released sporadically through out the night.

it's normal for reviews to begin yo get released once the Curtain goes up.

Reviews are written before opening night. They are published any time after the curtain rises on an opening.
Just look at... any other reviews thread in history on here.
David Cote is correct it is a joyless and grating show, I've was angry by the time it finished and the music is awful.
Matthew Murray hated it.
