Riedel should know that Hugh Jackman has wrapped shooting GREATEST SHOWMAN.  I hope the Tonys committee offers HJ the gig. He remains the perfect host.

I wonder, considering how desperate they are, if they'd ask Whoopi Goldberg. She lives in NY and has hosted the Oscars before. They have less than 2 months.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour will be starting up in Somerville, NJ on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City, MO(May 29-Jun 3) and is now then touring throughout Japan August & September 2018. Japan schedule: Tokyo(Aug 15-21), Kanagawa(Aug 28-29), Shizuoka(Aug 30), Osaka(Aug 31 - Sept 2).

STEPHEN. COLBERT.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

It would be marvelous if Bette Midler could host.  I would imagine though that she's got enough to do already these days.

"John Mulaney and Nick Kroll, who both starred in “Oh, Hello,” would be funny, especially with an assist from their friend Stephen Colbert, who might boost ratings."

This gets my vote. Even without the bonus of throwing in Colbert.

I really like the idea of Jake G and Glenn C.  It would be a different type of show, of course, probably light on the humor.  But it would probably guarantee that Jake would sing something from SITPWG, which could be revelatory for the broader audience.  They could add Nathan Lane as a third host for humor...think of him going on about the fact that none of them were nominated (I assume he won't be, despite his great personal reviews).  It could be a running gag.

I think Liza is a terrible idea.  She is a shell of her former self.

Liza, Chita, and Angela in their prime... sure. But not now.

Nathan Lane is in London doing Angels, so he isn't available.

Colbert is definitely the best choice, but I can't imagine they haven't already asked him.

I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

Gregory Hines, Glen Close and Nathan Lane hosted one year.  The year she won the Tony for Sunset Boulevard.

Just get Stephen Colbert already. I really can't think of anyone else more perfect for the job right now besides the ones who turned it town already.

I'm still saying Kroll and Mulaney. Tell me who to yell "KROLL AND MULANEY!" at, and I'll go do it.

Whoopi is ABC,  I am not sure but they probably have to remain within the CBS roster or someone not attached to a network for host.

Colbert is hosting the Emmys, so it is highly unlikely they will ask him to also host the Tonys unless they completely run out of options.

NPH hosted the Tonys and Emmys in 2013, so that's not necessarily something that could stop a potential option.

Yelling into the internet is not going to change the dates of John Mulaney's comedy tour.

I adored Oh, Hello, but I think Kroll and Mulaney as those characters hosting would be awful. I think they would start to grate pretty quickly. Having them present one or two awards would be fun, but in general I think most awards shows don't do extended bits very well.

They are legends. Chita can still move and I could see a choreographed number with them that would please their fans. The hosts they have had in current years have been good but I would love to see some of the legends, that a lot of us still like and see, host the Tonys. They may not be in their prime but they are still talented. JMO

I can think of a lot of possibilities, but I have no clue as to their availability. I agree that Stephen Colbert would be ideal, but if he was available, they would have announced him by now.

Off the wall ideas:

1. Taran Killam and Cobie Smulders

2. Will Swenson and Audra McDonald

3. All the King Georges (how many have there been so far?)

4. No host announced before the show, with an opening number featuring a casting call for host, with "auditions" by various show biz folks that would continue throughout the show, finally announcing '"the host" at the end of the show.

5. Originators of iconic Broadway roles sharing hosting duties..... in character

How about Sally Field? The writers could invent infinite variations of You Like Me, You Really Like Me. Or, if they want the whole world to watch, Meryl Streep.
