YES!! I cannot second this enough. I would kill for Roundabout to revive Funny Girl with her. She's literally perfect in every single way. Jackie Hoffman and Chip Zien would be great as Mrs. Brice and Eddie Ryan also.
I think she'd be great for Funny Girl (though I always personally wanted Lady Gaga to star as Fanny). In any case, having seen it recently at the Menier Chocolate Factory before it transferred to London, I was shocked at how banal and basic the book was, despite supposedly getting a touch up.

Honestly, it might have just been that banal and basic revival. The book does need some more touch ups, but the London cast and staging was far from stellar, imo.
I would looove to see Lady Gaga make her Broadway debut, but I think I would rather see her in Evita or Little Shop of Horrors.

Love me some Chip Zien and there are many things he can do. But he's 70. That's more than a little long-in-the-tooth for Eddie. He could play Ziegfeld, maybe.
Wasn't there that carousel rumor? I'd love to see her reprise Carrie on Broadway

AH! Would be amazing to have a carousel revival with Jessie Mueller! Although all the roles she's created have been wonderful, another new piece would be exciting. Whatever it will be, she'll shine.
They should get a production of FUNNY GIRL together for her while she is young enough. I think she's the only diva out there who can sing this the way it's written, and god knows she can mug.
But a revival might want to wait (rightly so) till Babs is well.....gone.
And the Roundabout has produced some great revivals but FUNNY GIRL should be big and lavish not like the London revival which had like 5 or 6 Ziegfeld Girls. The stage looked so empty.

Jeez, how is he 70? I always thought of that part as being kind of ageless. Is the part supposed to be played by someone younger?
Also, Roundabout's She Loves Me was far from sparse. Holiday Inn also didn't cut too many corners either, in fact it had a pretty large ensemble. I think we'd get a pretty lush production from them. I can't imagine us getting a commercial revival of Funny Girl right now, even with Jessie Mueller's name. I think Roundabout might be our only hope.

Yup, Chip Zien is 70.
Eddie is a hoofer, still active in the business. If I remember correctly, he does a big tap solo with the chorus in the "Private Schwartz" number, before Fanny enters to do the vocal. The character has been in the business a while, but 50 years older than Fanny seems way too much--he'd be a generation older than her mother! I always figured Eddie in his early to mid-30's.
I think Roundabout would do a lovely job. Their "Anything Goes" and "She Loves Me" stand up against most large-scale commercial revivals. Lincoln Center could also do it justice. Bart Sher was supposed to direct it when it came up on the radar a few years ago with Lauren Ambrose. I'd be happy to see him tackle this problematic piece, with Jessie as the star.

How rude. This is bullying and I hope the mods do something about you. You've been trolling thread after thread about how much you hate everything. Your behavior is positively disgusting.
Everything you post is either talking about Sunset Blvd tickets or about how The Great Comet is the worst show you've ever seen. Your vile opinion is not shared by everyone on this board. You are the very definition of a troll and you should be banned. Find another hobby other than being mean and rude. Jessie Mueller is one of the greatest modern musical theatre performers of this generation. She is a brilliant chameleon with a beautiful voice. What have you done other than sit behind a screen and make rude comments about people who are doing brilliant work in their field. Honestly, if you hate everything, maybe theatre isn't your thing.
