It's working perfectly fine on my janky work computer.

BWW videos never load for me. I can't watch anything that's only uploaded to BWW.

I have a feeling Mr. Sondheim himself may pop in at some point at City Center tonight. I'm munching my apple in tiny Fisher Park across the street and just saw him in his bright blue shirt walking solo into a restaurant/bar nearby.

So looking forward to seeing ASSASSINS tonight!

LATE EDIT:  I guess Sondheim had been present only at the rehearsal; he did not appear at the curtain.  But the show was presented magnificently.  Pasquale & co were laregely perfection. Only the games proprietor sounded weak. Not sure if he was so directed.

Wishing everyone who attends good luck and safety. Steven "Pee Pee Tapes" Pasquale is quite unpredictable and unhinged. I certainly wouldn't wanna be in the same room as him.

I can't imagine what it must be like to be you and Smidge and be so triggered by reading opinions that differ from your own. That must be tough...and boring.

Wow what an evening. It feels like a fully staged production. Very little usage of scripts and unfortunately they are used in the most powerful moments of the show, Another National Anthem and the following scene.

Victoria Clark practically walks away with the show and would certainly get a Tony nomination if this was on Broadway.

Ethan Lipton as the proprietor gives one of the strangest performances in a sondheim musicial since denis O'Hare in Woods.I think his performance might be the one controversy of the night. The directors choice for this character is very clear and I feel it's wacky enough that Sondheim might love it. I missed the last revival but judging from the recording, Lipton is the POLAR opposite from Kudisch.

Make sure to catch this production. It Felt more polished and fully realized than the recent Sunday when it was at city center.

Could you elaborate on the Proprietor in this production?

Something just Broke is included and performed beautifully.

Regarding the proprietor, think cheesy 1970's variety show host  who can barely sing. The exact opposite of  Kudisch.

Odd.

I won't be able to see this production, but a close friend of mine was there and really didn't love it.

Also, the lyric "every now and then the country goes a little wrong" literally stopped the show.

I was there tonight too and thought it was pretty fantastic, save for the proprietor. What an unsettling way to start off the show! Luckily everyone else was terrific, and I'll take ljay's comment about Victoria Clark even further and say that not only would she be nominated, but would have a very difficult time losing, regardless of the competition. I feel like I need to see this production again just so I can watch all the other actors as my eyes were glued on Clark during the group numbers. Just the way she popped her shoulder in the opening was spectacular. I couldn't get enough.

John Ellison Conlee did a lot with Guiteau; really the character was a barrel of laughs and Sondheim musicalized him so well. I feel like the real Guiteau would have loved his number. One of my friends said he actually read Guiteau's book and that it's completely bonkers and a total hoot. Might have to add it to the summer reading list now.

Steven Pasquale made for a sexy John Wilkes Booth and he sounded wonderful per usual. His scene with Cory Michael Smith played well too. In fact, I was captivated by the book scenes- I know the score well, but had only seen the full show once before.

Despite the bizarro casting/performance by the proprietor, I had a great time and lament that we don't get to see Assassins more often.

Marie: Don't be in such a hurry about that pretty little chippy in Frisco. Tony: Eh, she's a no chip!

Nah Sondheim was there tonight. Saw him leaving as inconspicuosly as he could.

I really wasn't a fan of the Proprietor. I get that they tried to do aomething different but maybe they should have tried to do something different than that.

I loved the idea behind the casting of the Balladeer, but then realized how powerful the transformation of the Balladeer to LHO was and how much was lost without it.

Alex Brightman was an unexpected highlight. I didn't see SOR, maybe that's why I didn't expect it.

I agree with every word, whizzer! Though it's unlikely, I almost wish for a Broadway revival just to enjoy Clark's glorious performance again. You're right, she'd be a major tony contender.
