"Yet the show never finds its footing, and Karam, director Simon Godwin and the cast frequently seem to be working at cross-purposes. The result is a confused, flat and finally listless production."
Whoa, I can't remember the last time I read such a negative review from Brantley. This production sounds like a real embarrassment for the Roundabout.
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"
Between this and holiday inn roundabout seems like a wreck.

This production commits the ultimate show business crime. It's not so bad that it's delicious and it's not any good either. It's simply boring and pointless.
There's no law saying they have to use pull quotes. Non profit doesn't concern themselves quite so much with its built in audience.
Overall, I'm not surprised, but didn't think they'd be this bad.....but I don't disagree.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

Well, last season was off to a bumpy start with Old Times and Therese Raquin. But it did get better with Noises Off, She Loves Me, and Long Day's Journey Into Night.

Saw it again. Let me say this. The play runs long. There are some unnecessary scenes, that drag on too long.
But there are some moments that I believe people should find noteworthy. It's not all bad. It doesn't know what it wants to be and that is true, but overall, I liked it. I know I'm in the minority there.
The actors, Harold Perrineau's Lophakin is breathtaking, he steals the show in a gut wrenching act 3. Diane Lanes performance has come a long way since previews.
John Glover is Charming, and Celia Kenan Bolger has done great things here.
Jeffrey's post made me curious about Old Times, so I trekked over to Wikipedia...
And like...how on Earth does a piece like that work at all? Is that existential absurdist theatre, or something? I think I'd be so confused if I saw that stuff play out on a stage.
