Has their closing been announced or are they jumping the gun with reporting that?

I would say jumping the gun. They are still making 84% of gross potential

Yes, this is true. And Book of Mormon is also closing, and Hamilton as well and many others. Or maybe they just use ticket on sale dates or some other metric that has nothing to do with anything.

Is Time Out jumping the gun or jumping the shark?

has to be a mistake. look at their grosses.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour will be starting up in Somerville, NJ on January 20, 2018. The tour continues through Sarasota, FL(Apr 24-25); Panama City, FL(Apr 27); Jacksonville, FL(Apr 28); Kansas City, MO(May 29-Jun 3); then touring throughout Asia in June - August.

Were I an investor, I would sue the producers if they were to decide close the show any time soon.  Beautiful seems atypical to me, when compared to most other shows.  Several times, it has looked like it was starting to lose some steam and then, a few weeks later, it is back to doing great.  I'd bet it has at least 2 - 3 years left.

Telecharge is selling tickets through March 12, 2017. And considering how they're doing in grosses, I'm thinking a new block of tickets will be available soon.

I see the show lasting through the end of 2017 at least.

I guess since they went from pay to free magazines, they left the fall intern in charge of fact-checking?

It's a mistake, some other website mistakenly said On Your Feet! was closing November 20th.

Hi folks—

No, Beautiful is not closing. The person who wrote that blurb for the events page in the print magazine—a page that David Cote and I have no connection with—misinterpreted information in our database; we often enter future dates in batches, and the writer mistakenly assumed that the final date we had entered was the final performance of the show. It was not an attempt at a scoop on Time Out's part, but a simple error that we regret and that we're working to ensure will not happen again. Sorry for the confusion.

Carry on!

Best,
Adam

If you look at TimeOut's listings for other shows, they did the same thing for them as I tried to point out earlier. They list Hamilton, Lion King, Wicked and Book of Mormon all as "until December 31, 2016" and pretty sure they're not closing. The lesson learned is, TimeOut is not your 1st stop for Broadway show info on closing dates.

If only there was a way to clarify information. Why does Time Out have an issue with Beautiful  Because you would ask the producers for a comment or check or clarify this info. Its not hard guys.

If a show lost sales because of this what would be legal action if any?
