I wonder if he sees this as a complete trainwreck & is getting out early?

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour will be starting up in Somerville, NJ on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City, MO(May 29-Jun 3) and is now then touring throughout Japan August & September 2018. Japan schedule: Tokyo(Aug 15-21), Kanagawa(Aug 28-29), Shizuoka(Aug 30), Osaka(Aug 31 - Sept 2).

My hope is that they find a director who wants to make this show real and not so cartoony. It's so easy to make these stage Disney musicals copies of the movies two dimensional. At least for me as an audience member, I want to care about the characters.

sure. my friend played Elsa last week with Alex Timbers directing a 5 day technical Lab. No press about that. But he was on board as of literally a week ago. so.

I'm well aware of the labs, workshops and other creative development processes taking place. This conversation began on Sunday or Monday and here's the conclusion. So, I'm not sure what you're trying to imply...

Yes, that's how these things happen...you're a part of it until you are not. It just sounds like they wanted different things for the show....happens sell the time. Those differences likely became apparent at the lab you mentioned.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

The exciting thing about this is that it signifies Schumacher's actual involvement. Far too often and far too many producers projects to careen to production and we end up asking how the trainwreck occurred and where the producer was. (And I am saying this without suggesting anything about Frozen.)

Can we just clear the record once and for all? Betsy Wolfe has NEVER officially been attached to any formal mounting/production of this musical. There are no contracts signed and no casting decisions made with respect to Denver (or beyond). She was signed on only for spring and summer developmental labs & workshops.

Wow. After having seen the completely uninspired staging of FROZEN at Disneyland a few weeks ago, I came out thinking this really needs an outside of the box creative thinker like Alex Timbers to make it work for the stage. Hopefully they get another brave creative thinker. The last Disney project that went through a slew of early directors was The Little Mermaid- and that ended up a disappointment.
