Chicago HAMILTON cast announced |
EXCITING! What if burr is Sydney or heck even Leslie?!
Great cast! I'd kill to see Karen Olivo as Angelica (but that won't happen for me, unfortunately). Interesting that they went with someone a bit older for The King. He strikes me as a bit more of the Brian d'Arcy James type, which they seem to have been moving away from. The other 3 kings are all very similar types as each other.
I've seen Wallace Smith in a bunch of things, and to be honest he strikes me as more of a Burr than a Mulligan/Madison, but I'm sure he'll be good.
So much OH WOW to all of this!
Alex and Rory O'Malley are only one year apart in age, and Alex is younger than Andrew Rannells. He may read older because he's bigger and broader, and yes, in type he is definitely closer to Brian d'Arcy James.

No surprises here except Alex G., which is more than welcome. Love him. He'll be fabulous. Karen will be, too. Best wishes to them on many years in Chi-town.
Wow, I never realized Andrew Rannells and Rory O'Malley were in their mid/late 30s. And yes, I definitely thought Alex was older. Maybe partly because he's bigger and broader, but I also feel like he's played older roles (Sweeney, Violet's father, Valjean, Billy Flynn, etc)
Wow, what I would give to see Olivo tear into Satisfied. I'm sure she'll be sensational.

Hopefully Karen Olivo can come to the Broadway production at some point

Doubt it. She's planted her roots in Madison, WI. I'd be surprised to see her leave that for a six or 12-month stint on the east coast.

KAREN OLIVO!!!
Is it possible for someone's contract for the Chicago production be transferred to the Broadway production mid contract? Is there a chance of these actors are going to replace a few people in the Broadway cast when January comes around?
That's always possible when you have multiple productions of a very successful show. Look at Phantom, Les Miz, Wicked, Mormon, etc.

It looks like Chicago is sold out, I just looked on Ticketmaster. No resale seats available either.
So glad I purchased tickets to this. It will be interesting to see who is cast as Burr (fingers crossed for Sydney) and Washington.
Neonlights, I'm not surprised there aren't any tickets listed on resale, as I don't think any one has their physical tickets as of yet (only confirmations). I'm having mine mailed to me, but I'm not seeing it until November.

No one has a ticket to resell until 45 days before the performance they are seeing.

I check dates every so often to see if anything opens up since I was not lucky enough to win the ticketmaster lottery the day these went on sale.
There are a smattering of dates with single seats but the date with the most available is December 22 at 1:30pm. That date shows about 20 seats - all premium. Not happening for me. Sad to miss Karen Olivo in this.

madela2, thanks. Is there any easy to way to find available seats or do you just have to check all the dates on Ticketmaster separately?

He's played Benny in ITH, so probably not.

broadwayguy91...I wouldn't recommend going around assuming people are Chinese based on their name. Dear God. Is this a Trump message board all of a sudden?

I don't know of any other way than just checking individual dates separately. That would be nice, though :)

By casting King George with a younger-looking (perhaps incorrectly, but I'd even say, twink-ish) actor, the character comes across like a spoiled child, which I think is effective.
I'm very excited to see the role returning to the Brian d'Arcy James type you describe. I think it will help distinguish Chicago's from the Broadway production, and I can't wait to see how differently it will play.
