So lucky !!! to be in New York tonight where they decided to film the entire show with all the main cast...

Tons of trucks and crew outside all very friendly

The filming went off without a hitch.

So lucky to meet Daveed Anthony and the gorgeous jasmine who all took selfies with me in the orchestra section theatre as I hung around after most of the theatre goers left as I was grabbing a few extra playbills- rainbow edition.Thomas Kail walked up to me and I told him how amazing he was.

All of a sudden Jonathan and Oak were leaving out a side door of the theater crossed the street and went into a hotel  across the street. They so graciously posed for pictures with us.Jon is one class act and so amazing!Would love to hear other people's comments who were there tonight and became a part of history!

were there any snafus or lyrical flubs tonight? last week when I was there Christopher Jackson messed up a line in act 1 (I think during Right Hand Man) and later a mug fell and Lin picked it up and drank from the spilled mug (or course it was empty the whole time).

Leslie confirmed on Twitter Sunday night that he is appearing in the filmed performance.

Thanks! I've been off the grid the past few days. This is indeed good news, it would have been a shame to "preserve the original production" without its Tony-winning leading man.

Yes, Leslie performed.  Everyone brought their A-Game tonight.  I saw cameras set up in the entire handicap row H area, in the first box balconies, occupying about 2 seats in row D center orch and the same in row A center front mezz.  Would make sense not to have had the cancellation line because those displaced patrons needed to be seated somewhere else and unused house seats were probably the best option.  I'm just speculating--I don't know the logistics and operations when show is filmed but it was so interesting to be present.  Everyone looked emotional at the end.  Jon Rua looked like he keeping his mouth from making a crying face and Lin definitely had tears welling up in his eyes when he walked off stage left.  It looked like of relief that finally it's in the can!  In the Heights didn't get filmed but this production did and everyone left their heart on the stage.  I thought seeing it between the Tony noms that they gave extra great performances, but last night topped that one.  Lin's emotion on his face.  Leslie's baffled looks, the use of his fingers and hands up in the air to gesture and convey his thoughts.   Groff lingering on the last note in "for ever and ever and ever".  Chris Jackson sang One Last Time like it was for the last time!  We are definitely in for a treat when it gets released.  I'll probably be having cataract surgery by then...

The only snafu I noticed was small.  During Guns and Ships, after Daveed raps his right hand man back and Chris sings Alexander Hamilton, troops are waiting in the field for you--a letter being mailed to Hamilton is supposed to be make its way from stage left to stage right via the balcony.  It made it to the ensemble's hand who dropped it.  The look on Anthony Ramos face when he had to pass it really looked like he wanted to laugh and continued down the line playing it off passing the invisible note.  By the time it was up in the balcony right, Jasmine had a what I call a back-up letter in her hand which continued to be passed and made its way to Phillipa and Lin.  It was a nice observation to catch.

The letter always changes. I noticed last time that the letter that starts isn't the one that gets to the end. There's a switch up top. Probably to get a better sealed one or something.

its great to hear the filming went so well. Can't wait to see it in 15 years

I'm not sure how to post photos but I have a screen cap I took of Facebook. Some lady commented on the playbill article about filming that she asked one of the "PBS" guys when it would air and his response was five years.

I'm sure some PBS guy is in the know. The actual answer is they'll put it out when they need a boost in sales I'd imagine. With tours not even starting and the show sold out for the entire run, there's no reason to release it. I think 5 years is way sooner than I would expect, but what the hell do I know?

I agree, 5 years seems too soon.

It won't be five years. Also, why would someone with PBS know anything about a separate, commercially and privately produced film project? They're not involved with this particular filming. They only have a documentary coming this October. That's it.

I would guess it will be released for a big anniversary, be it in 2025, 2030 or 2035 (I don't see them waiting longer than 20 years but who knows)

This film will not be released at any time in the foreseeable future, likely not all. (Ask anyone in the company about their contracts.)  It's been reported in multiple releases that the goal is preservation and archival documentation, not to create a commercially viable product.  As per the entire run to date, the production wants control over all footage, which is why all bootlegs disappear immediately.

Did you find the filming distracting at all? Like were the actors playing to the cameras or anything? Just curious.

I saw someone tweet last night they couldn't believe they had the whole OBC, except for an understudy as King George. They seemed disappointed the "understudy" was on. I would have peed myself.

And someone else posted the tickets they purchased at the box office before the show for regular price. So I'm wondering if the few cancellations they didn't fill with cameras were there for the taking since there was no cancellation line.

I mean Leslie has said it will definitely be released so I don't see reason to believe it wont be. As for the bootlegs being immediately deleted...not quite.

The reason why that person was misled was because the slip of paper in the playbill said he was the replacement!! LOL

I guess those people don't realize he is the most popular George!!

Glad  I took 15 copies of that playbill with those slips- sure to be a collectors item!!

Why would Leslie make a definitive statement if nothing had been confirmed to him though? I mean yes they could always change their mind but I don't think it's right to say it probably wont get released either.

when the letter makes it way up to the top level, center - each person always has a different letter in hand and they aren't passed from one cast member to another. I think it's because the transfer speeds up at this point and it is to avoid what you noticed happen affect the performance. If one person messes up the chain can continue without a hitch. Smart if you ask me.
