The only interesting part of this press release is that Winnie Holzman is no longer working on the screenplay. Gregory McGuire is doing it now.

they haven't done any casting or rehearsals. Could just be throwing this out there just because. Again, I'll believe it when I see it.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour will be starting up in Somerville, NJ on January 20, 2018. The tour continues through Sarasota, FL(Apr 24-25); Panama City, FL(Apr 27); Jacksonville, FL(Apr 28); Kansas City, MO(May 29-Jun 3); then touring throughout Asia in June - August.

Marvel movies and star wars movies have dates that far in advance. Think the new indiana jones has a 2019 date. Its no unheard of these days for major movies to be announced in advance

Writer Winnie Holzman and composer/lyricist Stephen Schwartz, collaborators on the Broadway show, are reuniting for the film adaptation.

Yeah like Britain can vote to leave the EU causing an economic crash around the entire globe that is so big it puts China, US, Brazil, Japan and basically every other country into martial law and the us points all nukes toward Russia causing a nuclear apocalypse killing everyone on the globe except for the people in the Gershwin and circle in the square theatres.

Lots of things can happen in 3.5 years. However, I'm shocked they'd put this right near the final installment of the new Star Wars trilogy. Nevertheless, I'm definitely excited! Wouldn't be surprised if that date gets tossed around quite a bit though.

Really makes you wonder who will star in it since 3.5 years is quite a long time. Heck, we could get 2 new Ariana Grandes in that amount of time that could become top contenders.

3.5 years really isn't that far off for a major movie like WICKED. To stay on that trajectory, they would basically have 12 to 18 months to finish the script, and maybe six months after that to complete casting production, etc. the film would likely begin shooting first quarter of 2018. So that will really be here pretty darn fast when you think about it
