"Back when she played in “The Goat,” Sally Field’s theater was the Golden. When Joe Mantello was nominated for a Tony for “The Normal Heart,” he played the Golden. Where’s their “Glass Menagerie” opening? Looks like the Golden."
Apparently it isn't for the people who are putting up the money.
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."
-John Guare, Landscape of the Body
it should really only run for 2-3 months. no way this sells well even with Fields.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
I loved the last revival. And it feels like yesterday.
But the fact that this could follow so quickly doesn't bother me because it feels disrespectful of that show. It just speaks to the preposterous conservatism of the producers who invest in these things.
I love Sam Gold. Could be a great production.
No matter what, it's lower on my list than any play that hasn't been produced on Broadway in the past four years.
I'm a fan of Sally Field, a fan of Sam Gold, a fan of Joe Mantello, and a fan of the play. But even I have a lot of trouble mustering anything even resembling enthusiasm for this.
"...everyone finally shut up, and the audience could enjoy the beginning of the Anatevka Pogram in peace."
I had no idea this was happening.... I do love all those involved, but if there was a revival happening in the near future I would have hoped for the Mary-Arrchie ( RIP) Hans Fleischman production.
this is one of the most disrespectful productions to happen on broadway in years. Joe Mantello should be ashamed of himself, really. The rule used to be 20 years between professional NYC productions.

There has never been any such rule, except in your mind.
I feel so conflicted about this. The 2013 revival was my first time seeing the play, and I completely fell in love with it. Such perfect design, casting, direction, everything. I love Sam Gold but I just can't imagine this being better than the 2013 revival, which will be fresh in the memory when seeing this.
Who cares? I mean if you don't want to see it, don't get see it. I love Gold and would love to his take on it. And it's a gorgeous play. I'm not sure what new light can be shed on it. But I guess we'll see.
"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”
