A question for those who have seen Bright Star

How heavily is the show Amplified? I'm thinking of seeing it this week but as I've mentioned before I have great difficulty hearing shows that are strongly Amplified. I've also had my hearing tested I'm fine it's the sound systems that are the problem. Your feedback will be appreciated. Thank you.

All amplified shows are overly loud and annoying imho, including this one.  I have perfect hearing and always find that lyrics/book scenes sound "fuzzy".  Those infra red things help, but also sound "artificial".  Good luck!

I did not not find it to be over amplified at all. Sound is a big thing for me when I see a show and I thought it was mixed quite well the afternoon I saw it and the sound level was perfect. I still get goose bumps remembering those opening notes from So Familiar. My favorite song from the show.

So this show isn't like "If/Then" That show was so poorly Amplified that I was in physical pain.

I did not find this show over amplified.  I heard both music and dialogue very clearly.

Has anyone had similar issues at She Loves Me ?  I went to a performance last month and normally I can hear pretty well, but at this performance I could only hear some of the dialogue and barely any of the lyrics of song.  I left at the end of the show completely frustrated.  I know have a slight hearing impairment, but I've never had an issue so bad until this performance.  I'm not sure if it was my hearing, the way the sound was amplified, or if it had anything to do with the fact that all three off the leads were out that night.

I apologize if it appears I am taking over this thread.  I just never knew that the way a show is amplified can affect the way one hears it.  I always learn something new on this board, which is great.

 My granddaughter and I saw she loves me two weeks ago it was the Sunday matinee we had absolutely no trouble hearing. I do know there are some dead spots in Studio 54 that make it difficult to hear. The Roundabout Theatre should do something about that.

How about a total refurbishment from top to bottom ?It would be a really beautiful theater if this were done.

I saw this on Sunday and wanted to add that the sound quality is really good. It's actually among the best I've experienced in the last few shows I've seen. Great balance between the level of vocals and instruments so you can actually hear words. I was sitting on the far side of the orchestra in what could potentially have been a bad spot too.

Dolly - I think its difficult for anyone to know if it will effect you, as your issue seems relatively unique.  Having seen Bright Star, I didn't feel it was over amplified.  

 

I do think you'll like the show!  (and I hope it doesn't cause you pain.)
