Coming  to NYC in July. I have these shows booked: She Loves Me (so glad extended!), Fun Home, Hamilton, Waitress, and I have one more spot open. Please tell me what you think about my selections, and what is the last show I should book?  Color Purple, American psycho, Tuck Everlasting, bright star, shuffle along, or a play?  So hard to decide!  Thanks so much.

That's a lot of (excellent) musicals. I highly recommend The Humans as a non-musical palate cleanser. It's an extraordinary play: touching, funny, and both culturally and politically resonant.  Enjoy your visit!

Fiddler on the Roof or School of Rock.

Not to be confused with Dave19.

The Humans was excellent. If you do a play, I think it is a must see. I have seen everything on your list except Tuck. I would go for Bright Star or Shuffle Along for a musical.

Also skip School of Rock, so many better options now. Especially Color Purple

Go for something different and see a play. I'd recommend The Humans, but there's lots of great stuff playing now.

I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

From your list I'd go with Color Purple, it is truly spectacular. Haven't seen Shuffle Along yet but that might be something to consider. If you're going for a play I agree with other posters that The Humans is really good, but don't see a play just because all the other shows you're seeing are musicals, see a play because you want to see a play.

I really enjoyed The Color Purple - so I would recommend that one.  I've heard good things about American Psycho and Shuffle Along but won't personally have seen those until next month.  I've also heard great things  about The Humans (have tix but haven't seen it yet).  Cynthia Erivo's performance alone makes The Color Purple worth seeing (though I did enjoy the whole show -but she and Kyle Scatliffe who played Harpo were my favorites.

You have a great schedule of shows booked  .... Color Purple is absolutely fantastic and if you add that you would have the complete  All Star musical line up for this season.  If you want one final musical, absolutely choose Color Purple.   I have seen almost everything this season, and I think It is light years better than your other options.  (And this is coming from a person who went in a huge fan of the American Psycho film ..... I would have thought I would have given American Psycho an A+ and Color Purple a C .... when in actuality after seeing the shows I give Color Purple an A+ and American Psycho a C).

If you want a play and your visit is in the first half of July, I would definitely choose the Crucible.  The Humans was ok .... not at all  bad, just not really that great, in my opinion.  It is over before you know it, and I left a bit underwhelmed.

The only other thing I can think of that would be a great addition to your schedule is Dear Evan Hansen, if it somehow extends all the way into July.

The Color Purple hands down.  I saw Shuffle Along which is fantastic but The Color Purple was amazing.
