Just curious (and please direct me if this has been asked previously) how many posters on here have actual careers in the theatre industry (not necessarily Broadway) versus an impassioned interest in commercial theatre/theatre in general. I'm interested in knowing!

I do, as a music director/pianist. I'm also a songwriter, and am about 90% done writing my musical, as well as putting together an album of non-theatre songs with 12 different singers for each song. I usually lurk more than post, but I've been coming here a long time!

I do, from the educational end: teacher, director, choreographer, with a side of set, costume, lighting and sound design.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I finished drama school a few years ago, been working on regional productions and staged readings in the UK but I've just moved out to Australia for my first proper big job.
I've been on these boards for years and I always thought I'd leave when I actually starting being paid to perform but I can't seem to stay away.

I do social media for artists and shows.
I had to leave the board when I was working on a Broadway show though. Too hard to see what people would say about it. :

Well I made my Broadway debut in Girl Crazy and would later go on to star in Broadway hits like Call Me Madam and Gypsy.

Playwright and director here from the UK, used to be a dancer/singer in musicals but quit to set up my own production company and now I'm far happier

I work in Theatre, Broadway mostly, actor. Well for the last 13 years or so it has been on Broadway. I come here from time to time to read whats going on. Not so much for the reviews but instead I love to read the commentary on topics, events and some performances. I truly find some of the arguments to be amusing, So I admit I come here at least once a week and scroll through.
I dunno, I work in n Broadway so I guess I need to post here too. Right?

Like PThespian, my job isn't directly related to theater. I am a speech and language pathologist. So theatre is my principal hobby. But as a SLP, I am often concern about actor and singer voice. I can detect bad voice and singing behaviors. And I can also hear the first signs of voice disorders (before most people). Unfortunately, that can spoiled my enjoyment.
In the near future, I want to do a musical with people with speech and language disabilities (stuttering, aphasia, etc.).
Maybe I do not speak English as well as you, but I can perfectly pronounce the names of all characters of Les Misérables.
