Shuffle Along could take away Hamilton's Best Musical chances |
Ok.
It may...it may not. We can talk about about how "amazing" Bullets Over Broadway was going to be, and look how that turned out. There are 7 or 8 new musicals opening, so its anybody's game.
But thank you for joining a week ago to share your thoughts, Mr. Wolfe.

In answer to the thread question NOPE
How do you know?
Because this particular show is the making of the original shuffle along black musical, so they aren't actually reviving the show. It's not a recreation of Shuffle Along. This show wants to show how the original shuffle along play changed musical theater, so this show goes way beyond what the original one was.
It really isn't a revival.
.
I can't imagine it would be considered a "revival," given the creative team and their capabilities...not to mention the rough-and-tumble state of their original material.
It will almost have to be considered a new work.
I'm sure it will be great, but I doubt it will be Hamilton-great.

I guess I know why you picked your screen name.

Call it what you want but the show probably won't be considered a revival and could definitely give lots of musicals a run for their money. Including Hamilton.
While the musical is going to show the making of Shuffle Along, it will also be packaged with the original musical in Act I.
I also happen to agree with FashionGuru_23, just because of the cast and creative team alone, doesn't automatically mean it will deliver.
Rumors are circulating that Shrek3 doesn't believe anything he writes here and just wants to get a rise from people. Anonymous sources say he should be ignored. Word on the street is he's just another username by the same sorry troll who's been doing this here for years.
We won't know until it opens but they have cast pretty incredible performers for Shuffle Along. and Hamilton isn't predicted to be a big contender in the acting categories So who knows.
To clarify: I have no vendetta against Hamilton, I loved it. But it's not a done deal yet.

Yes and the rest of the show will be completely different and new, so there's no way it can be considered a revival.

That's fine. But regardless of your opinion of me, my information on Shuffle Along is correct and it certainly has a stellar chance at winning Best Musical if it is put in the category.
.
I assume the show's producers are going to try very hard for it to be considered a revival for the Tonys.
