like many of you, i was utterly charmed by Kelli Ohara and last years The King and I revival.
So im watching tv, and suddenly "Getting to Know You:" a true rodgers and hammerstein classic, has been bastardized by a credit company as a sing along theme song for identity theft. While admittedly clever, this seems like a terrible misuse of a classic song.
There are probably a lot of commercials that have used musical theater songs over the years. I actually think it's clever because in that 30 second or however long the commercial is, it did grab my attention.

I needed something to stop the bush turkeys from eating seed I put out for my friendly visiting parrots--I now have the answer=play Stovetop on a loop-Turkey stuffing--get it?

The thing is, besides being an utter toad of a human being, Riedel usually has the least knowledge of the topic in the room. He doesn't usually understand the content or approach of a show, and is always completely and unfailingly socially ignorant, which makes it really infuriating when Susan can't get a word in edgewise. A definitive mansplainer; it's always painful when he has female guests. I watch the show sporadically when I really want to see a guest, because it's the only theatre talkshow we have, but it would be so much better without this hateful clown in a dadcoat.
