Phyllis and I communicated exactly what we wanted to.

Different people have different views of Lea based on what they know of her, and that's fine. I know someone who worked on the set of Glee for 5 years, and literally the only thing that they will say about Lea is that "she is not a nice person." Take that as you will. This conversation took place while the show was still on the air (and before Cory died); if there was an incentive for this person to lie, it surely ran in the direction of saying she was nice, for business purposes. That being said, if Lea were to come back and star on Broadway in the next several years, I would make an effort to see her. I won't watch her shows or buy her albums or her books, but I would honestly love to hear here sing live onstage (not from her album).

When I talk about her reputation, it's not her reputation among Broadway fans or even members here- because, honestly, who the eff cares? They're not in the room where it happens, no matter how many Playbills they have signed.

It floors me that so many members here seem to operate under the assumption that people posting here aren't involved in the industry in some way.

Is FLOORS you? It doesn't shock or surprise you, but it FLOORS you. Wow.

The girl can sing. Her first album wasn't good. Is she a nice person? Who the hell cares really. Many talented people aren't nice, but that doesn't take (me) away from the role they play.

Easy  to floor when your stepping on your own spilled coffee.

People can believe what they want but it's hilarious that any criticisms of Lea HAVE to be true because it's naive not to assume it's legitimate insiders whose word is gospel.

Yes, a person's actions mean FAR more to me then any talent they might possess. I'm sure there are people who's actions have not been made public, but I can't do anything about that, can I ?  Heck, I even had to change the channel last night when Mel Gibson was on, truly turned my stomach.

That being said...despite her reputation, I just don't care for her as a performer. Is THAT alright?

I'd love to see her in something new written for her. I could definitely see her doing something like If/Then or Drowsy Chaperone.

Any more hilarious than dismissing all criticisms as coming exclusively from irate fans from 7 years ago or disgruntled PAs?

It's not rocket science to parse this stuff out into what sounds legitimate and what's an angry rant from a Spring Awakening fan's defunct LiveJournal.

Stuff sticks for a reason, and it's not because an assistant got annoyed a decade ago.

Well, for those of us who aren't involved in the industry, I think it might clear things up to hear about some specific incidents. It's not that I challenge your judgments about Lea Michele, but the information presented in this thread is just too vague for us to form our own judgments.

I do understand that it may not be wise for insiders to share this kind of specific information, but if that's the case, then maybe it would be best not to bring it up at all.

It would be unwise, certainly.

But when people seem to believe that this stuff is coming from thin air, that needs to be corrected.

Obviously there have, currently are, and will be difficult people working in the industry- but their product is worth the hassle and gets results. Does Lea's? Are producers willing to take a chance and see if she is even bankable? Not much lately has proven she is. Does she even really want to return to the stage? I would say probably not in the near future, regardless of whatever pat answer she gives in an interview. I think she stopped caring about the theatre the instant her television career took off.

Maybe a traumatic event like this changed her and maybe she grew up a little bit since then.

Hilarious..  Nothing but hearsay, but of course, " Trust me, it's true!" is the 'correction'.

Other tha little Hailee being denied an autograph there is no fire, just smoke of those screaming vague allusions of Lea's Diva ways without offering anything substantial.  I get some hate her, their perogative, but their 'proof ' is , again, too funny.

Again the bitterness is too funny.  Plus overlooking the actual facts.  Lea's  been a regular on network TV shows for 7 consecutive years which  pretty much contracturally doesn't allow for any major BW shows other than, say a couple months limited engagement In the summer if she had chosen.    Yet somehow this gets translated to producers "aren't taking a chance on her".

Talk about plucking a straw man argument out of thin air.  Lea may/may not be interested in theatre at the moment, but that would apply to most theatre vets taking on some TV roles ( Jeremy Jordan, for example) so  I guess all stage actors going out for TV/movie roles is proof they " stopped caring  about the theatre".

Talk about spilled coffee by bitter PA's.

The thing is, besides being an utter toad of a human being, Riedel usually has the least knowledge of the topic in the room. He doesn't usually understand the content or approach of a show, and is always completely and unfailingly socially ignorant, which makes it really infuriating when Susan can't get a word in edgewise. A definitive mansplainer; it's always painful when he has female guests. I watch the show sporadically when I really want to see a guest, because it's the only theatre talkshow we have, but it would be so much better without this hateful clown in a dadcoat. My question is why the need to defend her?  Does she really need your help? This topic is such old news, and has been rehashed a dozen times.

Is this going to be yet another thread where you post after me but accuse me of following you around the board?

But you did just follow me on this very thread. When I post on a thread you go ahead and post "Irony Alert". And don't try to back pedal and say it wasn't meant for me because it's not the first time you post that directly after one of my posts.

Well, no, I don't think that's how it works.   You posted after me in this thread, seemingly not realizing the irony of you claiming anyone else is beating a dead horse.  Seriously, man, you should get your meds adjusted.

You're probably due to make fun of me losing a ball to cancer next, so I'll just beat you to the punch.
