You can put 50 etiquette sheets in a Playbill and still people will ignore them and do what they want. Once they start getting ejected from a theater and lose their money they will think twice the next time. Of course there are some who will continue to do what they want no matter how much it costs them.
Imagine someone waits 6 months and pays a gazillion dollars for a ticket to The Show and than gets ejected for bad behavior. This would bring a smile to many faces.
Just being honest i have had my fair share of not having the best theater etiquette but i have grown from then. This is crazy though i have never heard of someone doing something like this in the theater.
Went to Nutcracker Rouge tonight @ Minetta Lane theater. Wild wild show.An announcement was made at the outset video and pictures during the performance were allowed but please no flash photos as there are cirque elements in it . As expected some moron took a flash and it almost threw one of the performers off.
A show you can legally bootleg and that was not good enough for one jackass.
I am sad to report that I can top this incident. Last month classical violinist Daniel Hope had a solo recital interrupted by a woman who not only loudly took a Skype call during his performance but laughingly aimed her phone to the stage to prove the concert was still in progress:
