Why care what any one else thinks?
My first musical, and one of my favorites, was The Lion King. I have seen close to 150 shows since on Broadway, tour, and regional, and I still see The Lion King whenever its near a place I am located. Disney on.
Don't be ashamed! Beauty and the Beast still has a firm place in my top favorites.
Mary poppins was my first show I saw that was actually on Broadway. It still has a special place on my heart.
no it's not bad. as Dramamama said, who cares what other people think? ![]()

the shade.. lol
"
You're fine! Newsies is amazing -- my favorite show too! And The Lion King is still amongst my favorites.
It seems to me that the nature of your question is: "Is it okay to like a Disney show because Disney is so often criticized for buying out Broadway theaters, making Broadway less diverse, less original, etc?"
The answer yes, it is okay to enjoy and even love a Disney show on Broadway. There is a place for Disney on Broadway, so long as it is not the only type of show that gets a place on Broadway. So feel free to love Disney musicals while also being mindful that most of us lovers of theatre want Broadway to remain diverse and provide stages for original or lesser-known work alongside the popular Disney tentpoles.

@asmith0307- Your "Disney on" comment made me smile.
And as others have said, "Newsies" is a pretty popular show. But whether a show is popular or not, if you enjoy it then don't worry about what other people think. If people seem skeptical, maybe they have not seen the stage version? And if not-- just point out that the show won for best score and best choreography. That should help support your case for it being a great show ![]()
