IN CASE YOU HAVE NEVER WATCHED SPRING AWAKENING BEFORE....
SPOILERS...
I've watched a bootleg of the original L.A. production online, and I notice that Moritz (Daniel Durant) points the gun at his head instead of sticking it in his mouth (in the original production). Does anyone know whether it was intentional / had a symbolic meaning - to change that particular action? Before I had watched the bootleg, I thought it would be quite morbid that Moritz chose to shoot himself through the mouth in the Deaf West production, because of the fact that his teachers pressure him into speaking / oralist education despite his deafness. Or did they change the action so that he is now shooting at his (non-functioning) ears?

The thing is, besides being an utter toad of a human being, Riedel usually has the least knowledge of the topic in the room. He doesn't usually understand the content or approach of a show, and is always completely and unfailingly socially ignorant, which makes it really infuriating when Susan can't get a word in edgewise. A definitive mansplainer; it's always painful when he has female guests. I watch the show sporadically when I really want to see a guest, because it's the only theatre talkshow we have, but it would be so much better without this hateful clown in a dadcoat. You could be right (I can't claim to know for sure), but personally I think you might be reading to much into it. It's possible that Arden/Durant just naturally decided to have the gun go to the head because that's a natural instinct when staging a scene like that. They probably weren't comparing it in their minds to the original staging.
