Bryce Pinkham in A Gentlemans Guide |
I haven't heard that he is returning. I just saw this two weeks ago to the day and it was amazing and just constant laughs. Jeff Kready was out for the performance I saw, but I was thoroughly impressed with Kevin Massey.
This is one of the very few musicals or plays that I would add to my list that would gladly see again ! The cast that is currently lined up is great so I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to you.

That was the plan, but I do t know the date....there was another thread about this....likely not too far down.
Bryce Pinkham was possibly the only element of the production I enjoyed. He was funny, charming, in great voice and had just the right touch of mischievousness. So, if you think there's a chance you might not enjoy this type of extended Mad TV sketch, you may wish to wait until he returns - assuming that's 100% confirmed.

Both Pinkham and Kready are wildly delightful in a very, very wonderful and smart show. The choice is really apples and oranges. I can not in good faith tell you to see one or the other as their performances are polar opposites in intent but both absolutely fulfilling.
I FINALLY saw A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder last night. It's one of those shows that somehow always managed to slip through the cracks on all my trips to the city. I REALLY enjoyed this show. The cast was great, especially Bryce Pinkham and Jefferson Mays. The design elements of this show are remarkable. The digital scenery is so crisp and pure, and the sets and costumes are just beautiful. I am so glad that I finally decided to go see this. I will definitely be listening to the cast recording for the next few days!
HorseTears, I enjoyed the show considerably more, but I agree that Pinkham (along with the excellent Lauren Worsham) was the highlight of the show for me. He sounds beautiful and really carries the show. It's a fantastic performance and I wish it received more recognition.
I saw the show with the original cast in full last year and then went back with a friend during the Jeff Kready run. There was certainly a difference between him and Pinkham...not necessarily a bad one but it was hard to pinpoint exactly what it was. I do prefer Pinkham in the role and may be tempted to go back to see it again because it does seem like the show is slipping and will probably be gone before next Spring.
If anything though, I really missed Lisa O'Hare the second time around. She was royally robbed that season because I think she should have WON the Tony.
And Mays or Pinkham should have won in Lead Actor.
This info kind of helps me with a question I posted last week. We have tickets for Sunday 9/6 so based on your replies it appears both are on this week and I'll be able to see Pinkham and Mays. Thanks!
Bryce came back to the show, and Catherine Walker also joined the cast as Sibella Hallward after Lisa O'Hare left.
Catherine was already part of the cast, she just got bumped up to Phoebe, not Sibella. Scarlet Strallen joined the cast as Sibella when Lisa left.
Has anyone seen Kristen Hahn go on as Phoebe?
